Has anyone used Sur La Table Cookware?
Comments (1)and the size and functionality are great - except that, as you can see from the picture in the link below, the center of the pan is raised - or, more precisely, there's a well of sorts around the perimeter on the bottom of the pan. That's a nice feature for roasting, but I recently replaced my older electric-coil stove with a ceramic top model, and ceramic tops require that pans used on them have flat bottoms. The reason I bought the little roasting pan (aside from its convenient size, still a plus) was for the tri-ply construction's superior functionality when deglazing the pan on top of the stove. Now that I have the ceramic top, I can't effectively use the pan to deglaze anymore, since the majority of the surface of the pan does not make contact with the surface/sensors of the cooktop. Haven't tried the cookware. And, as people have pointed out countless times, if you want All-Clad, try cookwarenmore.com and go for the factory seconds. Most of my All-Clad comes from there (all of it since I discovered the site :) ) and the blemishes are so teeny and non-functional that I can certainly live with 1/3 to 1/2 off for a wee scratch on a handle. :) Good luck. Comments (12)Buehl, I haven't used the BH&G, but when I looked at them in the store, I was turned off by the glass lids. Others may like the glass lids, so it's personal preference. They seem pretty heavy and solidly made though. I do own both All-Clad and Tramontina Triply-clad fry pans and saucepans, and IMHO, they are equally great: both cook really well, handle heat evenly, do not burn things easily (unless I am at fault by leaving things in the pan too long, etc.), are heavy weight, but not so heavy as to be unmanageable. I prefer the handles on the Tramontina, but that is an individual choice. The only pot I do not see them as equals is the stock pots - I do not have an All Clad stock pot so am only going by the All-Clad stock pots I have examined in stores. I prefer my Tramontina stock pot to the All Clad for its weight and the handles. The All-Clad stock pot does not feel as good to me (when I held it in the store); it feels lightweight for its size, and the lid seems thin. Again, just MHO! The All-Clad stockpot is about $300, the Tramontina is $90 (I emphasize I am talking about the Triply Tramontina clad up the sides, not the Tramontina that has triply just in the base)....See MoreTremetina cookware anyone....
Comments (0)Some years ago I got SO frustrated with any pots & pans I bought-regardless of price- that were useless in a short time! I back then saw some orange colored set of Tremetina cookware at Sam's that was very reasonable so- what the heck!- I bought some! Am still using the set & find it just what I was wanting ... with care I find it still is non-stick although the outside orange finish isn't as nice & bright as it was ... due to my careless cleaning I'd guess!!! I see Sam's now has another set of Tremetina cookware (not orange!) for sale but this set says it was made in the USA. Has anyone tried either of the sets ... and if tried, the set made in the USA did you also find it worked well also? Thanks for any ideas! -vieja...See MoreAnyone tried the new Viking downdraft vent?
Comments (0)For my kitchen, I've decided to use a downdraft for ventilation (despite knowing it's drawbacks). There is a new Viking downdraft with an 18" rise (model VDD5360SS) that looks interesting, but given how new it is there aren't any reviews online. Has anyone tried it out?...See MoreRelated Professionals
