I was looking last night at some newer cameras and boy, have they come a long way in just three years! I went to the SourceForge link and the program sounds so easy but I also browsed around at other programs that were there and oh my, I could use a few of them also. lol Thank you so much for that link! Thank you so very much for going through the trouble of checking your older version of DIP -- your instructions are perfect! I love my DP9 and I ordered the Anniversary Edition last month because I was informed the Anniversary Ed is the last one and only one that will work on my Vista machine (whenever it gets done). Right now I am playing musical computers --- sons', husband's, daughters'-- but can hardly wait for the machine with Vista to get here so I can load my Anniversary Edition DP. Love the DP program! I know it will take practice to get anywhere near as good as you but just the little I've learned from playing around on my own has helped me and others around me so much with all our photos. The most requested? "Can you remove this huge zit on my face?" Right now I only have DP on this computer (son's) so I wanted to try and practice doing the 'stitching' (what a neat word for it! lol) for a couple days before the music stops and I have to find another chair...errr....I mean, computer without the DP. You guys are the greatest -- Thank you all so very much! I bet you all know what I'll be doing all night long, huh? -- Practice stitching my little heart out. LOL

Bob. I guess I wasn't clear enough. IF I use 'text boxes' everything flows perfectly (although I am not an expert on linking either and have had some problems figguring out the rules for getting each box linked to its predessor). But that is not my question. I was hoping to learn how to easily (rapidly?) create multiple, equal 'text boxes' to allow this flow. OR how to get regular columns, even on the first page to behave something like 'text boxes'. On the second and following pages, they do infact respond that way, with text flowing naturally from column to column. But on the first page which does have some carridge returns to keep banners and icons in place (and could indeed induce strange text effects as you suggest, although I don't think that is actually what is happening) the two column formatting from the second page will incroach into the bottom of the first page; or the outlined box on the first page moves down to the second page. In other words, some of the formatting on each page moves up or down as text is added or removed.

Sapphires, try this. Click on Format and then Object. Select Square and then OK. Go back to Format and then click on Order. Your choices should then be active. I tried it three times just to make sure, and it worked each time. I hope it works for you, too. Good luck. Dee

Depending on your aesthetic sense, you might consider some open shelving? I'm extremely visual and tend to forget anything I can't see right away (my partner claims I never quite conquered the 'object permanence' stage in child development, lol -- the one where they have mommy leave the room and see if the baby remembers if she still exists). It really helps me to have to most-used items like glassware, coffeemaking supplies, etc, out in the open where I can just see and grab them. Labels are also your friend. There are many types, from the paper label tape up to custom-made brass plaques with tiny nails you can affix to the drawer and cupboard door front. Or use file cabinet label holders, they come in a million pretty designs and finishes & would be a bit more flexible than engraved labels.
