High def Question

For those of you who have seen this eons ago, sorry, I do not get around much when shopping for laptops. :o)

I was recently awestruck when I reviewed the options for configuring the Hard Drive on a HP HDX 18t laptop computer. Up to a 1-T Drive (well, in a dual 500GB configuration, but still!). Blew me away. I have seen external drives of 1TB before but on a laptop, this was WOW SQUARED for me.

Question. Since Feb 2009 is around the corner, for all practical purposes, I should assume we all now have digital signals and we all have high def. I know that HP offers this so they can make more $$$$ and may not be necessary but bear with me. I am just looking for info. Does recording a high def program require that large amt of disk space on computers?

Question. Can someone give me an approximation on something? Say I want to record a high def signal for a 1-hour TV Program. How much space would be needed? Judge Judy? Stargate SG1? WWF? CSI Miami? You do not need to be exact; approximations are fine. I am just trying to get a feel for this stuff.

TIA, Luis
