Right click the photo- now choose the program you would like the photo to (open with), what ever program it is you will need to set that as the default program so your photos will always open in that program the default option may also be available on right clicking not sure..

There are also other folks here who are very good with photos if my help fails.

What program were you using to view these photos before the repairs were done?

Zep's method is good but why would you want to move away from the Windows Picture and Fax viewer? It is an excellent way to view your pictures full screen, you can remove or turn any you wish or see them as a slideshow.

To copy and paste you can use Windows Explorer. To do that
Right click on Start
click Explore
click the plus sign beside My documents near the top of the screen
click the plus sign beside My pictures if you have sub folders in there
click on the folder you need
click View at the top of the screen
click Thumbnails in the drop down menu.

Now all the photos in that folder are showing as thumbnails so you can easily see the ones you want. Right click on your choice to copy then paste in the desired location.
