Transferring via flash drive

Does anyone have any idea if this will work? I was going to try to transfer my plugin folder from my desktop Win XP via a flash drive to my laptop Vista.(These are Adobe compatible plug ins for Paint Shop Pro) I know for some plugins to work in Vista I need two different dll's which I do have access to.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Create a Restore point and try, if it fails simply restore the computer.

If these plugins are installed it likely will not work because you would have installed them so the the pointers would be installed in Adobe or PSP allowing them to find the respective plugin when you called for it.

If these are the original zipped plugins you have no worries.

Can't you Google and find any plugins you need for the second computer?

As an aside I like to burn my freebie downloads to a CD marked as utilities for situations like this. Plus if a free program becomes wildly popular it has been known for fees to be implemented on that program.

Thank you so much for your reply. Some of these plugins I know for sure were installed as you said. The problem is I have so many I would like to use (I'm talking about several hundred) that to try and find them all to download again would take weeks. The ideal thing would be for me to network both computers and share the folders I want.I have Verizon Fios with a wireless router But there are two problems with that 1- I have no idea how to do that and 2- my desktop that has everything I want is Win XP 32 bit. the laptop is Vista 64 bit and I understand that it may not work. Do you have any knowledge about that?

My son got me a flash drive for a Christmas gift and we used it to carry everything I wanted to have on my new computer by dragging the folders to the flash drive until it was filled, then transfered the files to the new computer. Then transferred the files on the flash drive to the new hard drive in the new computer.

The fact the computer said it was not recognised shows the computer is aware 'something' had been attached. As Kudzu notes, it may be defective. You could ask a family member or friend to try it in another computer to confirm that. You could burn the photos to a CD to give away if you do not want to buy another flash drive.
