FWIW, LastPass is what I use. Never had a problem with it. It can be downloaded as an add-on for Firefox, Chrome, Opera, so if you have any of those browsers you can search the add on lists at those browsers' sites (I don't know if IE uses it), or go to the main site below.

LastPass has free and premium versions. If you end up liking it, premium is only $1/mo. I use free and like it a lot and have been seriously considering upgrading. :-)

Yes, when you first set up LP in your browser you'll be setting up an account which includes an email address (to be used if you forget your LP password -- they will send you a hint, not the actual password) and a master password. Be sure 1) to remember your LP password, or at least have back-up copies somewhere (offline file ? printed copy ?), since LP does not have a password recovery option other than sending you the 'hint' you provided during sign-up (see the link below and note esp. the "I forgot my password" entry) and 2) make sure to have a good, long, strong password for LP otherwise LP becomes the weakest link in your security system. In fact, after you get your LP account set up (maybe using a simple password just to get the account created), you can use LP's own password generator to generate a humongous LP master password.

Just search for "lastpass" at you tube and you'll get loads of video tutorials. :-)

I must admit, even the free version has tons of features that I simply haven't had time to get to know yet. :-)

Thanks again! I've got my PW set. Now I'm trying to figure out how to add a site to the vault. I'm on my iPad now and don't have last pass on here so I will mess with it tomorrow on my desktop. Thank you again!

Usually, all you have to do is go to your site (ex. Garden Web), fill in your information as normal and click on 'log in.' Then you should see a pop-up banner at the top of your browser asking if you want LP to save the site. You click yes (or 'add site') and it will show you a dialog box with the relevant information (username, password, etc.). You can re-title the site as you wish. You can set it for automatic log in. And so on. From then on when you go to Garden Web it will either log you in automatically (if you set it for that) or, when you click to log in, you may see the information already put into the log in boxes (highlighted in red).

If you go to a site where you have multiple accounts (like multiple Gmail accounts), you may find the log in form already filled in, but a pop-up (or pop-down ?) banner at the top of the browser will give you the option to use different log in information, depending on how many separate Gmail accounts you saved to your vault.

To add any site manually, you just click on the LP icon, go to Tools > Add Site and fill in the info. ("Add Site" also shows up under Sites > Add Site.) :-)

For some reason I'm not getting the pop-up banner when I log into my sites. My pop-up blocker is turned off. I'm going to my favorites after I log into Last pass. I checked the security options in toolson LP. Can't figure it out...I'm usually not this computer dense.

I'm something of a novice myself when it comes to LastPass, but one thing you can do is, when you enter your login information, before you press "Log in" click on your LastPass icon and click "Save All Entered Data." Another tab should pop up with your username & password already filled in on a LastPass page that will be added to your vault when you save it. (See the Adding Site link below.)

Is there a limit to the number of sites that
can be used with the free version of LastPass?
RoboForm has a limit on their free version.
I paid for the full version but I have to
pay again for the update to work with newest firefox.

Pooh Bear, I can't say with any certainty about the site limit, but in a cursory examination of their "premium" features page there wasn't a specific mention of any difference to the free version on that point. ??

Btw, on the tutorial page I linked to above, at right there is a link on importing from RoboForm, so if you do decide to make the switch, it should be relatively easy. :-)

Well...I think it's got something to do with my browser IE. I'm just not getting the pop ups. It seems like it asked me something when I installed about enabling the browser. I'm going to unistall and reinstall and see if that solves the problem.

I use the free version of KeePass. It is not dependent on a browser. And so far has met all of my needs. Highly recommend it.

Last pass has lots of info on the FAQ page, and by browsing the forums, but I couldn't find anything that solved my problem. I uninstalled it but kept the zip D/L .
I just D/Led Keepass and it is quite similar to my previous password manager. Pretty simple, and about all I really need.
