I set up W/7 on one comp yesterday and much to my horror it detected the other comp W/XP and set up a network. Well!!!!! I will be dipped!!!!
The only connexion between em besides being plugd into the same house is that there is one monitor and a KVM switch plus a router. I thot it'd take a direct wire like a USB cable or some such. Had all the numbers, name, whatever. Everything is wired -no wireless.
larn sumpin everday ========== So it goes: Comp 1 > Router > Modem > Cyberspace > Modem > Router > Comp 2. ========== Wonder how it turns around in cyberspace. Maybe for the same reason if you could see far enough you'd be looking at the back of your head?
they are both sitting in your house connected directly to the same router , the router is like a jack and jill bathroom lol connecting the two rooms. Now that is the first time I have ever put it in those terms LOL
that is why when you have your computers networked you can view the files and folders from one while on the other, you can leave the cyberspace and modem out of the equation just think computer> router> other computer. Makes it very easy to move stuff from one pc to the other.
Well I Binged :-) network (W/7 only has IE9 at the moment) and the 1st hit said the preferred method for networking was did with a router. I had no idea. Thot you had to know somebody or have relatives. My first reaction was to cut the networks' throat which I did. Now I'm really curious and will mess with it some but haven't reactivated it yet.
Would I be correct if I presumed that if one comp in a network got a virus or whatever the entire network would be infected.? or can it be stopped before it spreads?
