Custom Drapery Measure/Install Question (chelone et. al)
Comments (17)teedup: Thanks for the suggestions. That was my first take on it as well--but wanted to be sure before I had the drapes shortened. Your statement about having the rod level makes sense. It almost sound like the guy needs to shoot a laser--that's what my GC did to determine the high point to start installing my kitchen cabinets. I think I will discuss this issue with the labor coordinator to see how they address these situations. graywings: The crown is still in progress. The schedule fell behind and drapes were ready so we went ahead with the install. As I have 8' ceilings I had planned on a simple crown. I have a CA ranch and I don't think any elaborate trim is in keeping with the style of the house. It's beginning to sound like the solution is to drop the rod and shorten the drapes. squirrel: Are you talking about the drapery header? The installer was also concerned about that as well. I will check with the labor coordinator later today to see what her take is on it after looking at the pics....See MoreCustom drape question
Comments (18)It's a stained glass piece of one of my kitty cats lol. And to answer your question, no I cannot so and I do not have a sewing machine. I can perhaps ask a girl I take my tailoring to as she is very good. If I did order fabric shears, how many yards what I need for a 16 foot wall on each side?...See MoreSemi-custom Curtains?
Comments (48)Thanks mom2sulu! That's so nice of you. There is a LOT of info to figure out! Fortunately I've had several houses to make mistakes. Or practice, however you want to look at it. The den rods are 7/8" (I looked back at my receipt). I love the French return, but I'm leaning toward simpler v ornate these days. I didn't want a finial to attract attention. Love that wall of windows in your house! couple of things, although you didn't ask so therefore feel free to ignore. You may also already plan these things. I'd add ~12" to the total length of your windows including casing to allow the drapes to stack back on your wall and leave as much glass exposed as possible. And I'd do at least 2-2.5 widths of fabric on each side, to keep your panels from looking skimpy....See Morecustom drapes Vancouver BC
Comments (5)I'm in Alberta but am thinking about using NikkiDesigns in Ladysmith for a few Roman shades in my new house. She's on Etsy, has more than 600 positive reviews, makes shades and curtains and more, and her prices to me seem "cost effective". https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/19253851/classic-custom-roman-shades-roman-shades?ref=shop_home_feat_2...See Morechrisk327
