Comments (97)Jmith, Everyone loads varies from type of fabrics to water temperatures. My loads is all over the place where I can wash my king size flat/fitted and 4 king pillow case with a king size fleece cover in one load to two bathroom mats in one load. Weighing fabrics does nothing but causes extra unnecessary step in doing laundry. Once you do several large or extra large load, the machine will let you how much you can fill the machine without over loading. If anybody over load this machine will notice how long it take for the load to balance for the spin cycle! I'm a older WT Lux user.........See MoreIf French Grey were Murkey Turkey.....would you?
Comments (56)I saw the Dead Salmon in my new House Beautiful this morning. They write lovely, glowing, things about it. But I KNOW I couldn't use it. I would be the butt of dinner party jokes for a year if I had a room in Dead Salmon. But on another note, I had a quick meeting at my house and one of the 30ish girls who is redoing her her 70's house (purchased 10 years ago by her new husband--a firefighter who only cared about building a shop in the back) came in and loved my entry color! She wanted me to write down the name, but fortunately I had a color strip with Dry Sage as well as Grey Mirage, on it. She says she can't choose color at all. She just gloms on to someone else's room that looks good and steals the paint color. (I've seen her house and it's beautiful--and she has a deep red like in my kitchen in her DR, plus, a sage like my Baby Turtle in her LR, so she might as well use the Dry Sage too!) Comments (19)My sis hosted this year but last year I had 2 birds: a 14 lb (maple brine, grilled) and a 27 lb (herb brine, roasted in oven.) (In case you're wondering about all that turkey, the butcher made a mistake; I had ordered a 12-14 lb and a 16-18 lb.) I followed a couple recipes closely and used remote thermometers, but both birds got done VERY early -- before guests even arrived! So I put the small bird into a cooler and shut the lid; the big bird I wrapped in foil and then beach towels. Both birds sat for a couple hours just steaming in their wrappings... and both were incredibly tender and moist. So if you're ever in a situation where the bird is done too early, see if you have a cooler big enough to set the bird into. It turned out great! runninginplace: how fun to have a culinary student doing your meal! Any tips to share?...See MoreSpatchcocking Turkeys?
Comments (22)See, I don't think it's counter intuitive to use a rack. Getting the heat/heated air to all sides makes more sense to me. Of course, my cooking knowledge is average and only growing because of others' info. I do roast chicken on a rack so that the heat is even around the bird and we devour the results. I'll put veggies below the rack for an extra special meal. All those drippings! Kenji's food lab entry explains why it works. I tend to trust someone who's willing take the time to try out different methods....See Morerhome410
