I made a post sometime ago about problems I was having with the system hanging up and going off to who know where. Most of the time I would get a popup screen saying that a script was busy or not responding...shockwave I believe. It would be minutes before I could even use the cursor keys. A number of people were having the same type of problem.

I have known for some time that firefoxes version of adobe had problems. I went in to tools and changed applications to stop looking for firefoxs version of adobe and just use the regular adobe software. I also deleted all cookies. If a site requires a cookie to be set then I can go in and make an exception if I want to. Gardenweb is one website that requires a cookie so I gave them an exception.

Also, something simple. I have always just clicked on the back arrow key to return to the previous screen. I found that if you put your mouse on the back arrow key and click on the right mouse you can then choose the screen you want to go back to. It seems to work a bit faster and the pointers are correct. You may know this but I just found it out today.

Anyway, I hope the adobe adjustment will work for you as the floundering around between screens was a big pain in the rear end for me. So far so good with the adjustment.

Which post are you replying to ??

Usually it's better to use "Post a Follow-Up" at the bottom of the post that you're replying to, so people will understand the context of what you're saying.

Maybe you're replying to the "Browser problem" thread ??

Test Added edit. gwTamara, However, anything that you post today, tomorrow, next week, etc can always be edited. So, that means that if you pull up a post that you made in 2011, you won't be able to change it. But, if you make a post today and then next year realize you made a typo, you'd still be able to come back and edit. Wait a minute! Tell me there's a time limit to edit a post. I really like the ability to edit posts BUT, I think an unlimited (day posted forward) ability to edit a post will cause context problems. For example; if I post today that Member A traded bad seeds and 100's of members post gripes about their Member A trades and then I edit to say it was Member B, it confuses everything. I think a 24 hour edit window is fair. What do others think? edit follows... It would be nice to have the ability to delete a post within 24 hour if no one responds. Oh I like that. Too many times I'm interrupted when composing a post, I might start it but not actually post it until hours later. I'll cut and paste to reorder my thoughts and if I'm in a rush I'll post. Then read it later and roll my eyes when I see a paragraph repeated or a silly spelling error. I just had one on thermostatic versus pressure-balanced valves. It took 5 minutes to type, but those 5 minutes were spread over 90 minutes. When I proof-read? Oh the horror! Thanks for the editing upgrade.

There appears to be a defect... We cannot edit posts on the thread linked below.The Subject is truncated and the message is rejected.Only the Preview button appears. I think it's the quotes in the subject - the subject is truncated after the "7". I was able to successfully edit on a different thread just now. Browser:Firefox 17.0 Windows PC (Dell) OS:Windows 7 Home Premium (v6.1, Build 7601, Service Pack 1) Editing Post: Two defects!Note that the thread's subject was also cut off in the link. Three defects...I cannot edit a post too soon after I edited it a previous time. The message is rejected and since I cannot change the subject when editing a post, I cannot use the workaround of changing the subject. Let me explain something...

I did not want to bring up the original post or thread because although there was extensive commenting I felt the analysis was faulty and all over the place. None of it produced any solution to the problem that was raised.

I wanted to bring up a new post with just a brief reference to the old post to set the issue as one that a number of people were having as well as me. I knew that my comment was not a complete answer to the problem but I felt that it might improve performance to some degree. I know for sure that it resolved one problem that was unique to firefox.

With the same amount of energy that krarb expended in a somewhat snarky comment on the origin and construction of my post she could have commented on the functionality of what I said. I felt that I gave her enough data to comment on.

This sort of going off on a tangent happens way too often on responses to various posts. I still do not see any response that addresses the notation that I brought up.

Just wasted effort on my part I guess.

PaulSmith's Right-Click-On-Back-Button also works by left-clicking on it and holding the button for a moment (and on the Forward button).

Other navigation tips:

SpaceBar = PageDown ... which can be faster than reaching for the Page Down key or the mouse.

Shift-SpaceBar = PageUp ... this perhaps isn't as quick-and-easy being as Shift-ing is involved.

Ctrl-End = bottom of page

Ctrl-Home = top of page

Alt-Home = bring up browser's set home page (like the Home navigation button)

Alt-LeftArrow = page Back (like the Back navigation button)

Alt-RightArrow = page Forward (like the Forward navigation button)

Alt-F then C = close current tab (closing the last open tab may close the program completely depending on other settings)

Shift-Click = open link in new window (also works from Favorites menu).

Ctrl-Click = open link in new tab (also works from Favorites menu)

Ctrl-N = new window (sometimes doesn't work when multimedia content is displayed).

Ctrl-T = new tab in current window (sometimes doesn't work when multimedia content is displayed).

Bookmarks management -- placing a group of bookmarks in a subfolder creates a selection at bottom of the list "Open All in Tabs." For example, I have a bookmarks subfolder for my oft-visited THS/Gardenweb forums. I can click on the Open All in Tabs selection, then proceed scan through the pages and Ctrl-Click on the topics of interest which opens them each in a new tab so they're ready to read as I move along.
