I have the Miele Diamante.

Honestly, I've been in the kitchen for a month and I have done NOTHING to it.

Nothing sticks, nothing streaks, nothing is there! - and we are a messy bunch. I have 2 pre-teens that cook and are charged with loading/unloading and the thing gets run at least 1x per day. I had an 1999 Miele top of the line DW stainless in a previous kitchen and my DH spent a lot of time finding cleaners and polishing SS.

I also have the "Cleantouch" on the oven. It too has not needed cleaning at all.

I can't answer for GE though :)

I've been using simple green to get grease off surfaces like the huge range hood. I generally use the Whirlpool SS cleaner (sample came w/one of the appliances, and I ordered a larger bottle).
I just last week tried cheap furniture polish (_Behold_; now without beeswax) on the front of the fridge, and it did a great job at removing smudges and leaving a slick surface that has repelled further soiling. I'll see if it presents and bad side-effects, like a dull buildup, but so far I'm happy with my discovery. The thick SS polish has to be applied just so, and the surfaces have to be cleaned prior with some other cleanser, so the idea of getting it down to a one-step aerosol is great. Behold is about $2/can.

I'm not sure if this would work for your Miele (I think it has the clean steel, which may be different?) but for most of our appliances I use straight rubbing/isopropyl alcohol. I just put it in a spray bottle and either spray a cloth and then wipe, or just spray directly onto the appliance. We have an Electrolux all stainless fridge and it works awesome for cleaning any spots. It won't streak and cuts any grease on contact. I have not found it to hurt the finish on newer painted appliances, but I have no idea how the clean steel is made or if it has some sort of protective coating on it that would be harmed.

I have mostly Kitchen Aid appliances now & initially found that they wiped clean with a "soapy sponge". As we have gotten more fingerprints on them I use Weiman Stainless Wipes (Target), then wipe with a microfiber cloth. This also works on the Sharp MD, the Zephyr Ventilation Hood & the Kenmore Elite DW. After a while I get a few water drips down the front of the DW & bottom freezer, so today I used the stainless cleaner that came with our earlier Maytag Performa (petroleum based product). It seemed to work well on the drips.

My cleaning service uses a basic glass cleaner--generic Windex--which has alcohol in it so it is probably similar to the method dandridge suggested. I was concerned at first but everything looks great. Well, at least it does once a week.

Has anyone tried lemon oil? It works like magic on my stainless steel sink, so I imagine it would work on the appliances. And it smells so clean and wonderful.
