I have been installing Schulter's trim pieces for ever. They cut easy and make for nice polished looks. That said I think the use of them in Kitchens and bathrooms countertop applications is a huge mistake. These pieces are made from softer metals that will not stand the test of time on a busy counter top in my opinion. They scratch easly too. Look closley at the display in your suppliers showroom and you will notice many warn looking pieces. Many too are warped in the displays by improper handling by sales staff and "Tire Kickers"... In a shower with no pots and pans they are ideal but not suited in my opinion for Kitchen and Bathroom Counter tops. An Old School tile topped with a NIce Nosing is the key. The best backer board (Like Green Eboard) and some epoxy grout will keep the install safe from renters. I will be tiling my own kitchen and am going to show case this in November. It's a gem and the Italian Tile will sparkle in this bright sunny space. Don't get me wrong - I love the Schulter profiles but feel a three part counter detail looks to forced and to messy... The tile setter used schluter on the outside edge of my schower but just used the tile edge around the niche and it looks great. The tiles are rectified. The niche is perfectly rectangular, it looks off because of the angle of the picture.

The profile is not even resting on tile properly in the #3 pic regardless who bought it A few hiring tips for anyone reading , Always ask the prospective tiler whos going to install, is it you yourself or do you send in the B team , the C team etc. Secondly you will know when you have a tile pro in your home, they will start getting less and less interested when you start declining having them order purchase and supply every last bit of tile related material for the project its not always about profiting or markup but more about risk and having a smooth project , this also puts the liability in your favor when things backfire vs attempting to shave a cost. One must ask themselves if they know enough about the tile business to be qualified to guage the prospective hires "knowledge"as well as select and purchase the correct materials . There is so many new products, methods , industry standards and a million hacks out there coming in with low rates willing to engage in sharing liability be very careful in the hiring process. @OP youve got the C team and i think the B team is on vacation here

I've been going back and forth on this same topic for the white ceramic subway tile I'll be installing as a backsplash in my kitchen. I'm using a 2"x4" mosaic. The problem is they don't make matching bullnose pieces. I can get them in bigger sizes and try and cut them down with a wet saw, but they're thicker than the mosaic (1/4" vs. 5/16"). I'll have some areas where the edge of the tile is open (i.e. doesn't terminate into a wall or cabinet). For those edges, I really just want a matching 2"x4" bullnose piece with the bullnose on the short edge. In the upper corner, I want a 2"x4" bullnose piece with a bullnose on both the short and long edges. For the top row where it's open, I want 2"x4" bullnose pieces with the bullnose on the long edge. I looked at the Schluter, but I really didn't like it. I'm going for a more rustic look, and I think it has more of a modern look. The solution I finally found was a place down in Cincinnati where you send them pieces of your field tile and they make them into bullnose pieces to your specification with a kiln fired finish. That way everything matches my field tile. It's costing me about $4 per bullnose tile, but it's giving me exactly the look I want. I think they have a minimum order amount of $50.
