I trust you Dan, but am like Smoky... I just can't do that to another person, but best of luck finding it Dan. I just see it as too hazardous regardless of how safe you are with it. Possibly you could address our concerns with your local County Extension Agent. He may have some additional input to think about. He could probably tell you too, if it will withstand a winter in your area. I would imagine it would depend upon the actual planting area (microclimate) and how it was maybe mulched/protected. I for one see it as evil as Loose strife that is choking our waterways in places, and Killer Bees that are finding their way North....sigh... Trust me when I say...if you were my neighbor, and I saw it, I would address the issue with you, and if it wasn't destroyed, I'd give it a good dose of Round Up myself. I tortured this moso boo. Started as seedling and left it and 100 other siblings out in hot sun in one inch by one inch 1020 starter sets on my driveway all last year. Got drenched and dried all summer and only grew to two inches. Only 30 survived. Then brought inside house and baked in boiler room for most of winter till only about ten were alive. Then planted out in middle of winter to dog run. Were all top growth died back. Only one survived. Then my dog peed on it. This in my effort to make a new master race of moso bamboos. I deep dug this 10 foot circle and mixed in lots of leaf mulch, grass clipping. It has since been planted with P. Vivax "springhill" in the center. The rest around it is a tropicalesque garden with various aroids, bananas, callas, etc. I had to remove eight wheelbarrows of dirt after I was done digging I fluffed it up so much and added so much organics. Don't blame me for the horsy mailbox. That's my mother-in-laws doing. I love my wife so I had to put it up. Here's some of the plants I started from seed and the tropicalesque plants I'm putting in: I put in six laburnums last summer along the driveway and they are flowering: The Verbascum "Banana Custard" I planted last year are flowering: Not your usual verbascums the flowers are 2" across and as of today the plants are ten feet tall. My patch of 39 A. Sikokianums below are doing good. I just planted 6000 seeds I got from them in a 12 by 8 foot bed a week ago. Next I am having 3 trees chopped down so I can put in a vegi garden. I had to sell my lake and Herptile Preserve because it got to be too much for me.

Please elaborate on the GEORGIA LAW concerning KUDZU. For years, I've been fighting the 'creep over and under' of kudzu from a neighboring lot. This has involved pulling vines from trees, digging roots and spraying, spraying, spraying the leaves w/ brush killer. I'm getting older and it is becoming more difficult for me physically and financially to continue this battle alone. I'd like to 'encourage' my neighboring property owner to take responsibility for this pestilence. Any court costs would have to be less than the money I've spent and will have to spend on brush sprays and chiropratic adjustments! LOL :-> Many thanks for any advice you'd care to offer concerning the discovery of the Ga.law regarding kudzu! Nita Roberts

in my area kudzu can, and often does, grow 1 foot a day! i spray it at our towers inthe hills, i have to mix the RU in a dose that kills small trees, but that is the only way we can keep it back from our towers. we actually replaced the guide wire a couple years ago. by late that summer the kudzu was over 100ft up the new wires! that was when i had to start going and spraying it. that much weight could bring it down. there are almost NO trees or other living vegetation anywhere downthe hill slope from where i quit spraying. funny that kudzu was brought in to fight erosion, yet aroudn here most erosion takes place in the winter when the kudzu is dead and gone.
