Hi again.. Thank you for your comments... natesgram..The screen door I have is at least 20 yrs old..It is bent and tweaked so it needs to be replaced...so I'm leaning towards a black screen door. If it was in good shape I would try painting it black..that's a really good suggestion that maybe someone else will benefit from. meowzer..I really like having a screen door to let a breeze in. I live in Southern Calif. and it's pretty warm all year round...so eliminating the screen door is not an option for me. (Sigh) I really love a pretty front door and I think the screen isn't very attractive, but it's all about function here. Coco and RM...Thank you for posting pictures of your doors..Absolutely LOVE the look of both! I think that seals it for me. gilly...thanks for the vote of confidence. As to the suggestions of purple...I think my 84 year old neighbor would call City Hall on me for sure. She's the neighborhood police, if you know what I mean. KA:)

Why yes, I does :). I have a black coffee table with a lot of brown in the room. Leather couch/chairs and wooden tables and miscellaneous pieces like the tv shelf. My table is from Thomasville. I will add that the wood accent pieces in the LR tend to the tobacco/darker range. I don't have light wood or leather in there. Hope this helps, Ann

Here are pics of the floor which is maple wood with Jacobean and the oak stair treads that are also Jacobean. The oak definitely takes the stain darker. We were going to rip out 2000 s/f of Bruce solid wood and replace with wider planks until I found out how much it would cost to tear out. And then I saw my friends refinished floors and loved. The thinner planks are not nearly as noticeable on the dark floor. Previously we had natural maple that had yellowed and the bevel groove between looked like black lines. I’m much happier with the dark floors now, but we do get a lot of natural light during the day, have a mostly open floor plan and 9ft ceilings. The pet fur and crumbs and dust are MUCH more noticeable on the dark floor but it just makes me vacuum more often which isn’t a bad thing!

if you don't want it to look light, then get a darker charcoal or even black. is there a way you can grab some samples and put them up on your roof? the roofing companies should send them out to you. they did to me. This way you'll see how much lighter they look once on top. Try Boral, Eagle roofing. unless you just want plain old asphalt?
