I don't know about the 5F. The condition you describe sounds just like what happens when the Range is "Locked." On the extreme left of the control panel is a "Lock" Icon with a 3 in it. Is it possible that someone rested their hand on that for 3 seconds? Unlocking the Control Panel & the oven door requires pressing that Icon for 3 seconds also. Good Luck. I have had mine for two & a half years now with no problems. I frequently lock mine when not in use. Even though my two cats "know" not to get up there, they might "forget" when I'm not around. Another safe guard would be to not leave any pans or kettles on the surface when not in use. This way, even if a surface unit was accidentally turned on, nothing would happen. It actually wouldn't even go On with nothing there.

Does anyone remember what the back of the Electrolux slide-in units look like? Anyone have a picture? Is there a space at the bottom (wall-side) for electrical connections? I'm curious if I need to have the outlet moved before installation day. The existing outlet (compatible with a free-standing range) is surface mounted on the floor for a freestanding range - and sticks out about ~3 inches from the wall, a couple inches high with the plug (maybe 5). Trying to figure out if I need an eletrician come in and move the receptable to a wall box per the installation instructions? Is there an identation on the slide-in similiar to a free-standing range? My countertop is 25.5 inches deep with no backsplash where the stove is going. I ordered the backsplash kit which is the manual says will take up 24 of the 25.5 depth. So is there enough depth behind the stove to handle the floor mounted plug?

as to #1, if this is like their other slideins, yes you can notch out the counter top enough to let the unit slide back enough so that the front of the oven matches the door fronts. but the carcass of the oven (the box without the doors) cannot be receded behind the cabinet face.

A good strategy is to buy a few individual pans that you use often, rather than a set -- especially larger sets -- which generally include stuff you don't want / won't use. You can add to your cookware gradually, as needed. Not clear why you are wanting to use small pans on your front hobs, rather than in back. Can you explain that? The smaller (2 qt.) pots are probably best used on either of the two rear hobs, which are smaller. [I have two ScanPan frying/saute pans (about 10"; I forget) for use on either front hob without problems; and a Favorit pan, and one by Marcus, in the back; they're all fine.] There are threads here about induction cookware. Briefly, people tend to like LeCreuset, Staub, Walmart's Tramontina (sp?), and Ikea's Favorit lines. I understand Costco had a set available recently (and maybe still) that works with induction as well. Those old threads will give additional suggestions.
