What type of Heater/Vent/Light fan for 9 x 5 bathroom?

Hi All-

Need to buy either a Panasonic or Broan Heater/Vent/Light fan for our small windowless bathroom that we are remodeling. Really don't want to spend $200.00 but will if I must. Any suggestions?

It's worth it. My windowless bathroom has a shower/tub and the tile floor feels cold in the morning. Having the heater on for only a short time feels great. Note it must be on a dedicated circuit. I have realized mine is not and it is a huge pain when it trips the circuit breaker on a cold dark morning. I got the one without a light since I put a recessed light in the shower/tub enclosure right next to it. The recessed light is on a dimmer and is made for a wet application. Plus the 3 light fixture over the vanity mirror is the other light source.
My fan is Panasonic Whisperwarm exhaust fan FV-11VH2 and is 110CFM.

I would highly recommend the Panasonic WhisperWarm series. We just tore out our Nutone with the same functions and installed the Panasonic and it is extremely quiet. Broan/Nutone are lesser quality. I know from experience.

Check pricing and you could probably get the WhisperWarm model (I have the one with heat, light, exhaust and nightlight) for a tad over the $200 price tag. I think I paid 225.

You will also have to make sure it is vented properly through the roof according to Panasonic's install manual.

I have whisper warm and we installed a timer switch for the fan portion so we dont have to remember to turn the fan off when we are leaving the bathroom. Works great. I was told it cant go inside the shower though so ours is right outside where you step out and the heater is great. I too bought one bigger than the space called for and have no regrets. I read that some complained that the heater didnt warm up enough and that made me get the larger size. The heater is great! Remember though that it takes a whole circuit breaker of its own-20 amp if I recall correctly so make sure you have enough space on your electric box.

Lovely! I like the classic white tile and porcelain and how you used furniture pieces in the bathroom. I love that the storage at the end of the tub has pull-outs that can be reached from the toilet. Your custom sink and backsplash and counter are unique and beautiful. Yours may be the first bathroom sink I have seen in which a small or medium dog could be washed! That is a good thing! I showed your pictures to my DH because I am thinking of classic tiled walls with a chair rail for when we redo our bath in a couple of years. He liked it! I was expecting him to say, "too old fashioned." He did not, he said it looked nice. From him, nice is a compliment. He even liked your rows of listello. I was just at the Tile Shop's site the other day looking at the Hampton tiles because someone was selling some on Craigslist. I am hoping to do as you did and get what I can cheaper there, and fill in the rest from the store. I can see that you worked very hard to secure all of your materials - and then cut the floor tiles to size and culled the Hampton tiles, too! You succeeded very well in getting the look you wanted while saving money along the way. Congratulations, and thank you for the pictures and great detail and supply list.

Our very tiny master bath (40 square feet) doesn't have one and never did. There is a big viga running across the ceiling in this bath, so I'm not sure where a fan would go if I wanted one (I would consider one of those remote units like pal has, but we have a flat roof with no real space between roof and ceilings). The room has a window, though, which helps. There is a newer combo heat/fan/light unit in the main bath. Neither bath has ceiling light fixtures, so there is no competition.

In our house we can't do hydronic where it is, we could do an electric mat, I am worried though about the longevity. We are spending a lot of money on tilework, my worst nightmare would be having to remove it to replace heat. My hope is the tile lasts the rest of our time in this house (and its our forever house.) So looking for heat that will either do the same or be easy to repair/replace if not. We are also looking at small inset electric heaters slightly recessed in the wall.
