Cleaning suggestion for removing film build-up in dishwashers
Comments (2)Not sure if you knew already or not but they sell dishwasher cleaner in the grocery store right next to the rinse aid. You do exactly what you did, empty the dishwasher completely, open the diswasher cleaner and put it in the bottom of the empty dishwasher. It cleans off the film you mentioned. Our Meile installer recommended using it once every few months....See MoreCleaning grout inbetween porcelain tile floors?
Comments (10)You know? Blue dawn works for lots of cleaning jobs. I remove oily stains from clothing with a little dab of dawn gently scrubbed in. It also works great on skin oils that get deposited around cuffs and collars of light colored garments...it's great stuff. However, regarding flooring... A poster said, and I quote,...'I hate the tile floor and would never get it again.' Tile or stone floors are not for everyone and neither are wood or any other resilient material. You have to know what you're buying. If you've got cleaning issues, i.e. you want the floor to clean up easily and totally, you cannot beat a quality sheet vinyl or an equivalent material in the sheet format, because you can get it totally clean. Same thing applies...if you want a floor that is resilient, sheet vinyl or an equivalent sheet material can't be beat for comfort. And...if you want a 'natural' choice, then stone or wood is for you, although stone cannot be considered resilient. Porcelain and ceramic floors are somewhere in between, they are not strictly 'natural', but they are not resilient and come with cleaning issues for those who insist that their floors be completely clean when cleaned....See MoreCleaning porcelain floor tiles
Comments (19)Glad you've toured the country (Italy); I'm sure you learned lots... And thank you for your cynicism. I did. Disagree all you want. Like I said, run it by TCNA and see what they have to say about it. Matter of fact, I'll give you the url to a forum where atleast two members I can think of right off hand who sit on the TCNA board hang out. one of them is even on the ANSI board-- a guy named Dave Gobis (the other being Eric Heidleman from Noble Company).Go over and ask over there what they think about it. For anyone confused about who you should listen to, I would recommend the same thing: Here is a link that might be useful: John Bridge's Tile Advice Forum...See MoreIssues with Cleaning Porcelain Tile Shower Floor
Comments (9)Dawn soap doesn't remove soap residue+human skin cells. To get rid of soap residue you have to use something other than soap. Have you tried a soap scum remover? Like Tilex? The one's with a higher concentration of ammonia work the best. I like to spray down the tiles (soak them) and then close the door and walk away for 30 minutes or more. Go back in (be aware it will have a HEAVY odour...if you have asthma you may want someone else to do this) and then lightly mist the tiles again (with the Tilex, or whatever). Now you grab your green scrubby (gloves are HIGHLY recommended...ammonia is corrosive) and get to work. Rinse with hot water. Keep scrubbing until you find the stains have been removed. Once you get the tiles successfully cleaned, you will want to to a strong clean every month or else you will be destined to have to repeat this HEAVY cleaning like this. Hard water can cause scaling (the whitish stuff). Moving to softer water won't correct something that is already there....See Morebill_vincent
