Miele Speed ovens vs toaster/convection ovens?
Comments (2)We installed a Miele Speedoven in 2012 and have no regrets. It is in a wall cabinet at counter height and is used all the time. It heats up very fast for baking allowing us not to use our 36" oven when not needed. It microwaves, bakes, and broils with all types of combinations of those heating choices. The drawbacks are the price and you need a 220v line to power it. The quality is excellent and have not seen another oven that can do what this does....See MoreBosch Benchmark Combination Oven vs. Miele Convection and Speed Oven
Comments (5)We have the Bosch set with speed oven on top, side door opening oven on bottom. I absolutely love both ovens! The side door opening makes cooking almost effortless. There is no awkward reaching or bending and this is from someone with two burn marks on my arm in almost the same place from using our old range! We did not get the double ovens because I felt we did not need the extra oven space plus we use the microwave a lot. Also have the large Breville toaster oven that can be used for extra oven space if needed. We considered Miele as their ovens are beautiful but this was pushing us way over budget so not an option. Good luck with decision, took us at least 6 months to figure out! Btw food comes out awesome in both ovens, obviously very important too....See MoreRange oven vs speed vs steam vs convection microwave?
Comments (19)I love the huge oven cavity that my Bluestar 30" has ... and I honestly have a need for that large cavity once every few years. It's one of those "when you need it, you really need" it things. But that need doesn't happen all that often. In our current remodel, we are getting a Miele CSO and a Miele Speedoven; those are only 24" wide. I expect that, like everybody else in this forum, I'll use them much more frequently than the big oven. If you never cook for really large groups of people, I could definitely see you be OK with smaller ovens. And from what I can tell, it's not as if a 30" wall oven was small. I do have to caution you though that it doesn't look as if the Samsung oven is an actual combination-steam-oven. Instead, it looks to me as if it is a regular oven that has a steam injection feature. That's a lot more limiting. Please read up on the difference before making a decision. Also, while I don't know anything else about this particular model, this forum is generally somewhat negative on Samsung appliances. They don't really have a great reputation for reliability right now. I wouldn't know whether that applies to their ovens, though, or if it is just their refrigerators that everybody seems to hate on....See MoreSpeed Oven vs. Microwave/Convection
Comments (3)I am in a similar situation. For the two adults in our household, we don't really need a microwave. Sure, since we have one, we do use it occasionally. But we wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there, and in fact we lived several years together before buying our first microwave ever. On the other hand, with two kids, we still need a microwave for what the kids want to do. Even if that comes down to no more than heating up beverages. As such, I am quite happy that we decided on getting a Miele SpeedOven. This fulfills the kids' needs and it gives me a fully functional additional oven. It's not a cheap solution, but it certainly is a better use of space than having a microwave that doesn't really get used enough. In other words, in the trade-off between space and money, space was more important for us; your decision might very reasonably be different. I have used the "speed" function a few times. But I find it is of limited benefit. In an ideal world, I'd rather have two CSOs. They are so much more useful. But I am happy with my current compromise. From what I can tell, the terms SpeedOven and convection/microwave aren't used very consistently. Sometimes, they refer to exactly the same appliance. At other times, they seem to refer to appliances that have severely reduced functionality. I'd carefully review the manual of any appliance that you want to buy and make sure it actually meets your requirements....See Morekgyso
