Reviving this thread - ISSUE RESOLVED!!!! So I almost went down the path of reaching out to Zephyr to replace my board b/c I unwittingly jumpered to 590cfm not having read that it's irreversible. I really didn't like the 590cfm setting since there are fewer low dB fan settings. I was planning on stepping down to 390 to have it nice and quiet when I ran into the same issue as stated above. Figuring there had to be a fix similar to resetting a BIOS, I poked around for a removable battery - no luck. Reset jumpers? :) Here's how I reset my settings to factory, I'm not sure that all of the steps are necessary but this sequence worked for my 42" Titan. 1) disconnect the power 2) get to the Mother Board 3) remove the ACT jumper from the pins and install it on the pins labelled CN3 (right by the speed pins) 4) either put the MB back in place or simply position it so nothing shorts out for the next steps. CAREFUL! 5) plug in the fan 6) Press and hold the power and light buttons (two outer most buttons) for about 3-4 seconds. The screen will display a message that says ACT has been disabled and the factory cfm (715cfm in my case). 7) unplug the fan 8) put the jumper in the position that you desire (I kept mine at factory max) 9) re-assemble the fan VOILA - you're irreversible settings have been changed. Shame on Zephyr for charging $100 for a new board, but I do understand making this process difficult so people don't go breaking building codes. Disclosure - I have not tried to jumper the board back to 590, 390 or any other ACT setting so I can only say that the above worked [for me] to turn ACT off. There are no ventilation codes in my area and I don't see any reason to turn off speeds 4 and 5 limiting myself to 390cfm. My hood is a 42" Titan. Enjoy!!

The first salary response in Sandy's post is excellent and exactly appropriate for the cover letter. I worked in HR for years, and while we sometimes asked applicants for salary requirements in their initial contact with us (yes, as a way of weeding out), a lack of specificity was never an automatic "cut". If anything, it showed us that smarter candidates were more interested in first getting a fuller picture of the scope of the job and more detailed information about the company. You can get into salary details at the interview (preferably, towards the end of the interview, unless the interviewer brings it up first), but what you really want is THE INTERVIEW. That's your real chance to sell yourself. I don't agree with Gibby, as I feel the cover letter is often quite revealing. Generally the resume isn't revised for each job application so it's usually a very polished product. However, if there are typos or misspellings in the cover letter, or if it's a "canned" product that shows no relevance to the position applied for, I won't even bother reading the resume. I have a really excellent interview tip for you, especially since it's been 20 years since you've been in the interview "hot seat." Make a list of strong "action" words, like MANAGED SUPERVISED ACCOMPLISHED ACHIEVED etc., and use those words to describe yourself in the position you've had. Write down a list of all the skills and talents that you know you bring to the job. Write down your proven accomplishments. Sit yourself next to a mirror with those notes and talk to the mirror as though you were being interviewed. Do it over and over again until you feel comfortable describing yourself in a very positive way. Look online for interviewing skills or tips. Many many times interviewers ask the same questions: What is your greatest strength? What is your biggest weakness? (Never answer that question directly! Always change your weakness into a strength!) The more prepared you are, the more comfortable you'll feel and the better you'll be able to sell yourself. Good luck! Let us know how things go.

I need to decide on kitchen faucet today. Had planned on the Hansgrohe Talic C Higharc but the Moen faucets are about half the price and plumber says parts are much easier to get for the Moen (plus all the positive on the new reflex technology here). I prefer the look of the Brantford over the Arbor, but I'm concerned the ridges and grooves are going to be harder to clean. Can you please give me your comments?

Hi all, Apologies for the long post but I just wanted to create some discussion/awareness and information on a small Australian company, Greenpower Energy LTD (GPP) listed on their Australian Stock Exchange, intent on disrupting the $8 Billion fertilizer market by converting coal to fertiliser/biostimulant. This is no way a investment advice - please do your own research - but I wanted to ask different farmers/growers and their reactions/responses to such a possibly "disruptive technology". The company’s Oxidative Hydrothermal Dissolution (OHD) bio-stimulant fertiliser (biological or biologically derived fertilizer additives and similar products that are used in crop production to enhance plant growth, health and productivity) has the potential to shake up the market, supported by significant cost advantages over its competition — GPP claim they can produce fertilisers at around one-tenth of the cost of manufacturing traditional fertilisers. Very recently, Greenpower coal from the Gippsland Basin was subjected to the OHD process and the resulting bio-stimulant fertiliser liquid was applied to Bok Choy in hydroponic conditions. http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20170622/pdf/43k3ds5m4t2ss0.pdf The impact on the yield of Bok Choy utilising the OHD Bio-stimulant was evident: As can be seen in the image above, bok choy responded best to the application of liquid at a rate of five litres per hectare with a 21% increase in fresh yield compared to the untreated control plants. The result of the study suggests that a bok choy trial with the OHD liquid applied as a foliar spray in commercial hydroponic growing conditions is warranted. Management highlighted the fact that the yield uplift following the application of the OHD bio-stimulant is in addition to that provided by added fertilisers. On this note, the company made the observation that the application of the OHD bio-stimulant could improve fertiliser efficiency, as was also evident in tomato and wheat trials where the control plants were stimulated with industry accepted rates of added fertiliser. As part of the current hydroponic trials Greenpower requested Monash University to also conduct trials on rocket in a hydroponic setting to further test the understanding that the use of the OHD bio-stimulant fertilisers is not suited on varieties such as rocket and lettuce with the results as expected and mirroring studies on lettuce undertaken by Monash. Studies to date have confirmed that the OHD bio-stimulant fertiliser deliver positive yield results as studies have concluded that the OHD bio-stimulant fertiliser enhances reproductive activity in plants that produce flower and seeds. Target markets in the hydroponic sector are focussed on those plant varieties that fruit and flower with a focus on tomatoes, strawberries, greens vegetables, cucumbers and melons. In February earlier this year, the company completed OHD bio-stimulant fertiliser cereal crop trials on wheat in Victoria. The results from the trials were impressive with significantly more heads of wheat on OHD treated wheat per plant compared to the untreated control wheat. The bio-stimulant fertiliser liquid was applied to test crops at application rates of 5L/ha through to 70 L/ha in addition to control plants. The results from the trials on wheat were impressive with confirmation of OHD boosting wheat yields by around 300%, when OHD application rates of between 5L/ha and 35 L/ha were used. On top of that, the feasibility study for the OHD project is well underway and expected to be released in the third quarter this year. The company is currently in discussions with international firms and national grower groups regarding offtake and partnering opportunities. Any long-term offtake contracts could be used as an instrument to fund the construction of an OHD plant.
