I thought I might be going blind because I had not seen gizmo ever mention netVeda, I see however that you mention you saw it in the comments area, that is of course quite different than gizmo recommending it.
I had not heard anything about netVeda in years, had heard it was no longer in development, I have no idea where it stands today but in the forums I am on in the firewall polls I don't think I have ever seen it rated well usually way down at the bottom. It is certainly not a mainstream choice. I can not comment on if it is good or bad. I will look around to see if there is anything current on it.

I agree with gizmo's choices however I do not recommend Comodo any longer.

Thanks for the comments about NetVeda. I'll steer clear of it for now, until/unless I hear something really good about it in the future.

I was only looking at Gizmo's site because (after a reinstallation of my XP SP3 OS) Online Armor wasn't playing nice with Avast (or vice verse). I tried various suggestions I noticed on the support forums regarding this issue but to no avail in my case. (At least I was glad to know others had the same problem !) I really like OA firewall -- due in part to Gizmo's review and his pointing out that it passed the leak test (which I confirmed on my own when I first installed it) -- so I didn't want to 'downgrade' to Kerio/Sunbelt again. Instead, I had to bid Adieu to Avast and said 'hello' to Avira (which is apparently just a bit more well-liked these days). So far, no problems. :-)
