We recently bought some land near Asheville where we intend to build a 4,000 sq. ft. home. I started contacting some builders and was given a cost per sq. ft. of $200. This seemed high to me. I was wondering if anyone had advices on good reliable builders that would be more in the $150 range. It seems to me that with the economy being what it is, the market is a buyer market and we should get some leverage out of this. I also want to build a nice quality home so I need to be told if I am being unreasonable when I ask for $150/sq. ft.? Please send me your recommendations and advices. This is our first home and I am scared to death to make the wrong choices. And choosing the right builder is definitely one of the most important decision I will have to make. Thank you!
