Hey deborah_ps, Thanks, yes it's going bye bye. No it does not "go" with the house. It is a modern brick in the original section of the house, which is a 150+ year old log cabin. It wasn't vented because he built this monster for an electric fireplace. I had a friend and expert look at the support system in the cellar and he says that part of it is fine, but of course the particle board/carpet was not. We were thinking we would put in an unvented gas log. But we have decided that the square footage we will gain back is worth the effort of tearing it out. More manpower would be nice, but we should be able to handle it.

While wood can warp when one side is wetter than the other, when the moisture equalizes, which it will, it will return to its natural state. The problem is due to either or both of these: - Reaction wood -- twisted grain or wood that was grown under stress such as on a hillside. - Differential expansion / contraction rates of radial (from the center out) and tangential (around the growth rings).While these number vary by species, it's generally on the order of twice as much tangentially as radially.This is why logs usually split and open a "pie piece" shaped split.A way to explain this is that the curves in the annual rings tend to flatten out. My opinion is "in the end, the wood has the final say."I've not seen a successful way to "unwarp" something permanently.My recommendation is to use plywood or fabricate new drawer bottoms from quarter-sawn wood. I would try deleting the houzz/GW cookies and logging in again. Go to settings>safari>advanced>website data and delete the cookies for this site (GW and Houzz have two different cookies--you need to remove both), then try again. However, I do notice that in iOS safari does tend to drop cookies on sites you haven't visited recently, unlike Mac OS.
