Back Button issue Tain't fixed yet

According to the message at the top of the forum, the problem was fixed. Just sent off a message saying no it isn't. I'm using a Mac OSX, cleared the cache like the instructions said and it did work --- but only once. Clicked on a message, hit the back button and worked. Next message, reverted back to having to hit the back button twice. Cleared the cache again with same results.

Is anyone else using a Mac and still having this issue? Are any PC users still having this issue too?

This BACK BUTTON thing baffles me, because it has never affected my computer.

I run windows XP and IE, and the back button has worked all through the time.

hayjud_mn, I think it has always been a FireFox problem.
I still see it this morning. I shut down and restarted. Is there something else to clearing out the leftovers?

I've been going back and forth over Bluestar and Capital Culinarian for more than a year (when my wife first started talking about an addition that will finally be built soon). And my research for the best range for me actually goes back five years. When I first started looking at pro-style ranges I wanted the highest heat I could find because I do a lot of stir-frying. I was tired of doing stir fries in batches and having the meat steam. I even looked at specialized wok burners with 30K heat or more. That just wasn't practical, however, and I knew my wife would not approve. I eventually stumbled upon Bluestar, whose visibility is minimal compared to brands like Wolf, Viking and such. Then I learned about open burners for its 22K plates. I was almost sold. The complaints about poor customer service and other problems did give me pause, of course. So did the fact that I knew so little about BS and couldn't find much information. That's how I stumbled upon Gardenweb. And that's how I learned about Capital. I decided to get the Capital Maestro cooktop because of my wife's budget concerns. Sure, it had sealed burners, but they went up to 20K plus and the price was nice ($1300). But she canceled a planned addition (for the second time) and I went back to the drawing board. Enter the Culinarian. First read about it last summer, when my wife finally agreed to an addition. It had open burners, hotter burners on all plates, more modern looks and people seemed to like the customer service. I finally found my baby. It just seemed perfect. Lo and behold, I disappeared from GW for six months. When I finally checked back in, I saw all these posts about problems with the CC - simmer, oven-rack placement, oven size. Back to the drawing board. I did look at American Range but ruled it out for reasons obvious to readers of this thread. Then I began studying Bluestar again. Supposedly the oven-door problem was partly fixed. Customer service supposedly improved. It seemed to have a better simmer ability. And the oven was better configured, while including one rolling rack. So now I am torn, but leaning toward BS. I figure I will replace the 15K burner with 22K and perhaps get a color. My wife, much to my surprise, prefers the Bluestar. She is not a regular cook, but she liked the grate design and flow better on BS and considers the oven far superior. She also thinks it looks better built and is more attractive than the CC. (We saw both in a local store). My 12-year-old daughter also likes the BS better, mainly because it can fit a professional size cookie sheet. She loves to bake. Personally, I think the CC looks better and is just as well made. I like the way it is designed for cleaning. I love the idea of four 23k burners. And my research suggests it has a slightly better broiler. That's important because I want a super high-heat broiler to get closer to my ideal of restaurant-like crusts on steaks and salmon. On the other hand, I can only afford the manual-clean oven (I don't like self cleans anyway). I don't like the rack configuration or how close the top rack is to the broiler. Nor can it handle a pro-size cookie sheet. The simmer problem is also a bit of a concern. I do plan to buy from a local, independent store that promises to back whatever I buy to the hilt. It's only a 5-minute drive away, so that's reassuring. I will get the support I need if problems do arise. Decision time is next week. I'll report back once I choose the last range I hope I have to buy.

Hi, I'm back again. I'm sorry I have been away from my computer for awhile and did not realize there was still some interest in this post. My 4 year old had surgery to remove a benign brain tumour on the 13th (she is doing awesome!), so I have been occupied with other things. I am also getting our current house ready to sell, so I have been a cleaning, trim-painting, de-cluttering machine. They had a meeting about my kitchen and the builder agreed with me that too many things had been changed. The kitchen company is going to fix things at their cost. We went through each thing and I had to say which I would compromise on, and which HAD to be changed and what I should be compensated for financially. Basically, they will be removing the upper cabinets and installing 36" uppers and the remaining 6" to the soffit will have moulding and trim work - similar in look to kitchenkelly's. (This forum has been so valuable for pictures and ideas. Even though I mostly lurk I find so many helpful things). They are also fixing the microwave shelf, the baseboards on the island and installing some beadboard trim on the island that was left off. They refunded money for granite, the custom wood hood and the 42" uppers. Anyways, the kitchen won't look EXACTLY as I had wanted, and a big part of the problem is that soffit. However, it will be very close and I think it will still look very nice. As my husband pointed out, I am the only one who knows exactly what it was supposed to look like! We are disappointed with how inflexible the kitchen copmany is in regards to doing NOTHING custom (the original company was more custom) and we would probably have not signed on with this builder had we known. However, the rest of the house is WONDERFUL and I think in the end the kitchen will be great too. It's just not what we would have expected. I will post pictures when it is finished. They will be installing the new cabinets in about 2 weeks - and I will definately be keeping an eye on it to make sure it is done right :)

Thanks so much Kevin! You're post pulled me off the ledge this morning. The granite guy came and stripped the sealer with an electric buffing tool (it had a round sponge at the end). Some spots he had to go over 2 - 3 times. And he's coming back tomorrow. There's a spot that I still think looks like a dark streak but he says that where the quartzite is showing (?). Then he tried to convince me it was a shadow. I kept asking him to go over spots and he'd say, "You're seeing something dark, where? I don't see it" and his helper would put his hand on the exact spot I was questioning. This happened like 3 times. Kind of frustrating though I'm glad he came back--I know others on this site have gotten stood up. There are two slabs. The smaller had no issues and looked great. Like I said they both got a color enhancer and 3 coats of sealer. He's due to come tomorrow and I was going to just have him put the color enhancer on the stripped counter and I'll handle the rest with Method but he told my husband that the color enhancer is what caused the problem not the sealer which is a load of ... to me. I'm going to have to bring up the dark bands again in the morning to have him rebuff those. I hate to be a broken record about it but it's nuts to me to have a problem with the counters from day 1 that I didn't even cause but paid full price for. Unfortunately, DH is too tired with the process so I'm fighting this fight alone. Many, MANY thanks for answering the call this morning!

So everyone is screaming rip it out so I will ask who picked out the tile? What exactly is so substandard. Zoomed in pics of one spot doesn't constitute a bad tile job. Tile work is not cnc accurate type work. When you zoom in on pics ANY tile job will look bad. The look of subway tile on the ceiling and the change of pattern is the problem here not the install. It can take an entire day to do touch ups and caulking properly. Problem is nobody does this as it is tedious work. Besides the tile layout what ever cant be fixed with touch ups and caulk? If tiel guys would simply use a stone and dedicate a day to clean up and caulk it would eliminate the majority of these posts. I am tired of people on here just jumping at attacking every job they see and of course waiting for the WATERPROOFING comment on every shower. Tile on tile is acceptable with todays products. They should have redone it but again we dont know the entire reason why they didnt. How about take some pics from 5 feet away so we can see the entire job. $100k reno but how much was allocated for the tile job we are seeing here? White tile with dark grout is one of the most difficult tile jobs there is. i just did one and can tell you the amount of hours that is required because the color contrast amplifies every single flaw. Then the more accurate you get amplifies those smaller flaws even more. It is almost impossible to be able to zoom in on a white/dark grout job like you have posted.

I'm using Firefox and no back button issues...however, I still have the "incredible shrinking font" thing going on here.

not fixed on my netbook either, and I did clear my firefox cache, hit the back button and still did not work.
I have never had the font issue.

Havent had an issue with it either all along. Using XP3 and IE7

Still have it on my desktop. Tried all the recommendations and still have the back button problem. Never had a font problem.

Really annoying,

From Firefox, I was having to click the back button twice, sometimes thrice, to navigate, but not in IE 7. In IE, I was experiencing a momentary pause when I clicked the back button. The latest fix did not resolve my problems with Firefox, although I cleared cache and restarted.

I noticed two interesting things from Firefox: Lots of transferring/connecting to URL activity when navigating to a page and double, sometimes triple, instances of the page in the Firefox recent pages dropdown upon initial page load. I did some testing and saw that the back button actually navigated through the duplicate page instances, making it appear to do nothing.

This all made me think it had something to do with Gardenweb ads loading, so I installed Mozilla ad blocker just now. (I never installed it before because I wasn't getting annoying pop-ups or anything in vanilla Firefox.) Anyways, that did the trick, and my back button works perfectly now.

Well, it worked on the first page I went back and forth on, but I am back to experiencing the same old problems now. -So ad blocker is not the answer! Sorry to inspire false hope..

you are right about part of it, I also notice that when I hit the back button that first time things do change, the Done which is at the bottom left on my bottom status bar disappears and there is indeed an instance of the page listed in the back button history, when I hit the back button again and it actually does go back the history does show all attempts for that particular page load,including the one that went no where. So something is happening behind the scenes when we think the back button is doing nothing.
Those of you experiencing the problem can you look and see if on your browser the word "Done" at the bottom left disappears on the non functioning hit of the back button?
I am using firefox on this machine and it is xp.

I've now sent three notices to GW regarding this problem. To date, no response whatsoever from them regarding the problem. Absolutely no problem on my PC but it still persists on my Mac.

I've cleared the cache as suggested, but that doesn't help either.

I'm going to post this problem on the Mac forum also to see if folks there are having the same problem and if they've resolved it. Seems strange to me that it's fixed on the PC but not on the Mac.

I have been following this thread and I have had no problems with the back button on XP & IE or Foxfire which is on my laptop. That is here on the Gardenweb.

Yesterday I was in my Gmail as I have PSP graphics sent to that site and the back button wouldn't work there!! If I hit it twice I was back on my homepage. I kept going back in and it did the same thing. Crazy!
