mike_kaiser And genes, Thank you so very much for responding. Sorry about my delay with a response but I was waiting for my actual laptop to get back. Was on another computer yesterday while my son had my laptop for work (he dropped his) but wanted the actual laptop with the problem in case there was someting else suggested here to try. I went to the product page as you suggested, mike_kaiser, but the driver listed is exactly the same one that is listed in my Device Manager so I didn't bother with that. No exclamations on any of the things in device manager---I even clicked each one to open each one all the way to see what was inside each main title. Yes, I rebooted several times. I even raised my virtual memory because I had received a message that it was too low while I was scrolling around Ebay. I rebooted after raising the virtual memory but still the little slot won't acknowledge the SD card. The little light on the slot does flicker. I guess that means it's working? genes, No, I haven't tried another SD card. But yesterday my neighbor took my SD card and loaded the photos on her computer. She said she is coming over today with a little mini flash drive (?) that I can stick in my laptop and download the photos to this laptop that way. This means the SD card itself isn't broken, right? Hi dahlia6, Running an older version of PSE in Vista or XP Compatibility Mode often fixes these problems. To change the compatibility mode try the following: 1. Right-click the PSE icon on your desktop or in the Start Menu and select Properties > Compatibility. 2. Select Run This Program In Compatibilty Mode For, and try the various versions of Vista and XP. Please note: I've seen many that have the same ERROR as you are having using PSE 2.0 on a new Win7 and the amount of VM allocated is WAY more than enough, so this could be a possible compatibility issue. Also, how much RAM do you have installed and is this a 64-bit system?

I'm surprised you'd get a message about low Virtual memory with that much free space. Did it say that it was going to create more or that it couldn't? If the former, the message is merely informative and not a real problem. Except for the annoyance when it pops up a lot as it may with only 504 MB of RAM (which is actually 512, but some of it is probably used for video).

My Mum had terrible problems on statins ... she had so many side effects but taken over a period of 6 years many of them were simply put down to 'ageing'. She got dreadful muscle aches to the point where she could barely walk and couldn't sleep at night for the pain - the Dr prescribed her pain killers and sleeping pills. One of her lower legs and both feet would swell badly. She couldn't find shoes to fit and had to wear mens slippers for about 3 years - the Dr prescribed meds for water retention. She got progressively more forgetful and confused not to mention very depressed - the Dr prescribed anti-depressants. So to counter-act the effects of ONE pill, she was taking 4 other pills and yet still getting worse by the day. In the early hours of one morning while she was listening to talk back radio the subject of statin drug side effects came up and the radio station switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree with people calling in with their experiences. Mum went back to her Dr and told him she was going off the statins and within 2 days she was feeling better. However, the muscle damage to her legs has been permanent so for those of you having the muscle aches & pains PLEASE be careful. We found alot of information on the web about the side effects so it pays to educate yourself about them. The Drs here in NZ just seem to dish these pills out like lolly-water especially to the elderly. My Dad (86) who was on quite a low dose of statins and is as fit as a fiddle (still plays golf twice a week) stopped taking them after Mum had pinpointed what was causing her problems. He'd had achey legs (again put down to old age) for some time but improved as soon as he stopped taking them. And the scarey part is that his cholesterol readings were slightly UNDER the so called healthy range ... but the Dr prescribed the meds as a 'precautionary' measure! Sheesh, don't get me started hahaha!
