Revisit the ZA/MSupdate problem

My neighbor has been traveling out of the country and will soon be home. I'm thinking he doesn't know about the ZA/MS update KB951748 thing.

Since I never even saw the MS update, I didn't install it, but did have the loss of my internet. The MS update is not nor ever was in my Add/Remove. I have ZA v.70483000.

I would like to alert him through an email that he will read when he gets home, about that problem, so he won't run into complications.

What should I tell him to do? I'm not sure what he has but I think it is HP XP SP2.

TIA

Sue

Tell him that if he uses ZA he should download and install the latest version before doing anything else.

If he has the problem, he won't have internet access to read your email.

My problem was finally solved when I got a ZA notice on my screen early this week that they had a fix. I downloaded and installed the new version and went back and installed the MS update. All is well. It only took two hours...that day. Not counting the hours of frustration and wasted time of all the other days of trying to fix it. Your friend was lucky to be gone until a reliable fix was available.

Ginny, I'm sure before he left he unplugged his PC, so nothing would have come down the pike.

I'll just tell him to get the latest ZA before he does anything else.

    Thanks.

he should be able to simply go right to his ZA and hit the update button in preferences and it will update his ZA to the new fixed version. If he had Windows auto updates set on then it may send out that MS update as soon as he connects to the internet so if you call him tell him before he connects to the internet to go into control panel, automatic updates and turn them off or to notify only, till he can get online and get the ZA update.
