Roofer is supposed to drop off a sample of your Colonial Slate Color today. Does it look good with the brick too? If you have pictures of your front and sides of house with brick, I would love to see them. Would you describe it as medium or medium dark? I have almost resigned myself to black out of fear how the whole roof will look in a color. The Georgetown gray looks really good with the cream/yellow siding, but worried it would be too light for the brick. It does not "match" the brick. The weathered wood seems to "match" brick and siding, but also worried it would be a bit too light. In most cases, I am not a fan of painted brick either unless it is totally shot. There are always exceptions though. I was just reading where you can lightly spray brick with paint. I believe the term was fogging. Not interested in doing that for this house though.

Personally I think so, been a few years since I sold them but they were rather flimsy and poorly assembled and if memory serves the shingles themselves were considerable more expensive (for a poorer shingle in my opinion at the time, not a high end mill in my mind). The only place they save is in installation and for that to happen they need to be well put together and need a so called money wall which is a large flat wall where you can save time installing.

Dees Color and whats nice is just a perception of humans. I can find a single color more attractive for no apparent reason. Its not about the color of a roof, but functionality, stability and durability. However, if I were to share my experience regarding your roof, I would recommend a darker color and to repaint the exterior of the house to match. A darker color with a lighter shade to the exterior will add depth and design. Can simply make it stand out in your neighborhood of bland colors. We like to make homeowners stand out and be different! No cookie cutters here!

One huge difference I notice between your inspiration pic and your rendering: The inspiration has cantilever roofs or roof lines that project well beyond the structure and crete very strong horizontal lines. Then within these lines there are earth toned colors in vertical panel sections that give a column like feel and are in sets of 3s and 4s. While it is not my taste at all, the inspiration is really well designed with a lot of intentional vertical and horizontal play that makes the colors work. Now let's look at your rendering. The words compound, conference center, and apartment complex come to mind. This feels like a structure, but not a home. You have a bunch of blocks everywhere - big blocks of windows and chunks of mostly square building that on the exterior look somewhat unintentional in size, placement, and color. Your colors are very stark and contrasting. There is nothing integrated or subtle here. And I don't understand what all of the black lines are. Are they painted on? They don't seem integral to the structure. Your color need to have some subtlety that you house currently doesn't have. I'd consider a wood siding that isn't as saturated as your rending and is much lighter in brown tone. I would also break it up more so it isn't a monolithic looking wood chunk. The rightward large brown square - I would not do the entire space in wood siding but figure out how to make columns of it between the windows. I'd also get two season renderings of any color choices you make. Unlike your rendering, your home does not have a stand of evergreen trees and will look very different in the winter than the rendering does.
