I've been scouring the internet in hopes of finding Labor Day savings for our kitchen appliances and so far, nada. But just in case I'm missing some sites, I thought it would be helpful to have a list of appliance shopping websites. Please post any you know, for good prices or price comparisons.

There's also www.number1direct.com but I've read horrible reviews on them so even though they have some great prices, it doesn't appear to be worth the trouble!

I found good prices at www.usappliance.com, they offer free shipping and no tax (unless you happen to live in the state they are).

I'd do a google search on each and see what feedback you can find. We did this when considering online purchase. You have to weed through the feedback to get an overall vibe as it were and don't base your decision off of just one site (who knows who actually runs the site, maybe a competitor??). We found some online places that basically were stealing peoples money and not getting them the product and then all of a sudden there would be a group of great feedback. Once you see this pattern you realize the firm was posting their own glowing reports to counterbalance the acutal customers bad feedback for them. You might also consider printing off the items from the sites that have lower prices that the retailer at least seems to be on the up and up. Then take those print outs down to the local store and explain that you would really like to purchase in town to support local businesses if it was affordable to do so. We did this when looking at a range and although the in town dealer could not match the exact price he did take the price down to what they called the contractor price for us which made it only about $100 or so difference. We ended up with different appliances in the end and bought our range locally for the same money or in some cases less than the online vendors were selling at. For us it was worth it to do so either way. Sure they could close, but we felt better that if we had a problem we could just go down to the store (been open since the 1970's) and get resolution. chisue, our renovation has not begun. The cabinet maker said the cabinets could be ready in six weeks. He and the GC will coordinate this (they have worked together many times). The GC will install and I will ask WDC about this also. Hope they will respond soon. The lag time between delivery and install, even if we order this week should be no more than 8 eight weeks. Of course that does take 2 months off the warranty. The local place cannot come as low on the prices, especially the GE Profile induction range ($2200/2800). But they discount from the prices shown on the showroom floor.

I bought a Lacanche stove via the internet back in 2005, I think, from England, self importing it and dealing with shipping as well. Total cost for the Cluny, Portuguese Blue, including shipping was under $4000. This is actually a very simple stove. It was installed in about 4 minutes, and I have not had any trouble in all these years. My point being, if you know what you want, and you can get significant (emphasis on the significant) savings, and you don't have a "touchy" product, of course you should use the internet. If you anticipate that the appliance will need frequent servicing, perhaps you should re-consider purchasing the product. I'm re-doing my mother's house in a very rural area and will buy a Verona on-line since there don't seem to be any dealers there. On the other hand, there is a somewhat "upscale" appliance dealer within 100 miles which has a service department so in a pinch they could come up to handle it.

I used these guys and they were fantastically priced and delivered exactly what they promised. When I ran short on a trim element, they shipped me more without the required min shipping charge, which one would hope they would have, but these days you never know. As I went to write this, I decided to check if my experience was unique, so I found the reviews I linked below. I was thrilled. Floor was $3 vs $8 sf, trim was also 1/3 of the tile store price. I was thinking of using www.homeclick.com for major appliances. Most purchases get free delivery and no sales tax.

It is important to understand that the customer must be meticulous and prompt in discovering and reporting shipping damage. Once the time limit window closes on claims regarding carrier liability (even if it's not really their fault), the number of happy smiling personages on the other end of your phone line will abruptly decrease.

Most online sites are selling appliances at cost or close to it. Then they are paying the shipping costs. Everyday is a holiday sale.

Depending on what state you live in hhgregg is offering deals on the commodity brands in their new markets.

Brands like Sub-Z , AGA and Viking don't allow their products to go on sale.

What brands are you looking for? Based on what brands your interested in, someone will point out who has a great deal for you.

*Sharp Micro Drawer 24" KB6524PS
*GE Advantium PSB1201NSS
*an inlay baffle hood, don't know what to get. Getting a 36" Bluestar RCS.

My local appliance store was competitive with online prices and that includes taxes,delivery (40 miles)and installation. I can't say the same about flooring stores and I ended up buying flooring online with great success. But I would always prefer buying locally.

Can you explain how your local appliance store was competitive in price in regards to sales tax? I'm in the market for kitchen appliances and I'm considering buying online but if there's a way to match prices including sales tax I would definitely purchase local. Thanks!
