Recommend a comfortable slow close toilet seat

Bought a Toto Drake. Saleslady says the Toto soft close seat is very uncomfortable so she suggested a Church 380SL. Frankly I don't think it is very comfortable at all but I will live with it.

So, I want to replace the seat in my kid's bathroom (20 year old round toilet). Really want the soft close feature. Can anyone recommend a comfy seat that is soft close?

Actually, we have both the Toto (and I agree with that saleslady!) and an AS Cadet for which we purchased the slow-close seat available at HD -- the HD slow-close is really comfortable for all of us, 10 y.o. - 50 y.o. I'm going to change out the Toto seat as soon as I can stand replacing a perfectly good new seat. But the HD slow-close one is a high recommendation.

We have a new Toto soft close. Seems comfortable enough, but I haven't compared with others except for when we had various "soft" seats that never seemed to last long or be easily cleaned.

Hi guys! I will admit that I haven't had a lot of time to do my research.... :) I would love to get a soft-close lid for the powder room on the main floor. A deodorizer would be awesome, since it will be the main toilet for guests! I just found one on the Costco.com website. It is the "Breeza Deodorizing Toilet seat". An idea whether this will fit nicely on a Toto Drake elongated seat? Or are there any other simple soft close/deodorizing seats that I should consider?

I have Toto brand soft close seats that came with my 4 Toto toilets. These are all replacement toilets that have been installed over the last ten years. The seats are all plastic, but very sturdy, and there has been no deterioration or staining, no cracking, and no deterioration of the soft close mechanism. They are in the $40-50 range on Amazon. You can spend more -- up to about $200 for the solid wood Toto seats -- but if you want something that is reasonably priced and practical, go with the standard, plastic ones. This type will also not make a loud, clunking sound when you lift the seat and it hits against the tank.

Smart Toilet or Just Bidet Toilet Seat

I do not think that you need a smart toilet. A bidet toilet seat is enough. It is so common these days, because of bathroom space issues and all the economical price that it has. Also , bidet toilet seat comes with a variety of options such as hot and cold water use. I have bought a bidet toilet seat from Bidet Buzz and it has been working great. I really recommend to have a Bidet toilet seat rather than spending more money on smart toilet.

I think it could be a good idea. I have slow close seats on my toilets and I live with a man and he better shut the lid not just the seat. In fact in our home we had 3 boys and the deal was if they wanted to pee standing up they got to clean the bathroom every Saturday. I honesly have no idea why men need to pee standing up they don't in Germany at least all the ones I know in Germany .I think it is huge advantage when camping but not at home.

Bemis is the same company as Church so don't bother with theirs. I am very unimpressed with their soft close seat, which I bought a few days ago. It's very cheap feeling, and I don't think the soft-close thingy is going to be all that durable. Flyleft mentions one sold at HD - there are two sold there, an American Standard brand one that's about $55, and the Bemis that's about $25.

BTW, the Toto seats are indeed different from the totally flat seats most of us are used to. We had one regular and one traditional, which took a few days of getting used to and then we found them VERY comfortable. It's been an unhappy adjustment to come back to regular flat seats. Not only do I miss my Toto flush, I miss my Toto seats!

When I replaced my toilets I bought a couple soft close Kohler toilet seats. I bought them at Home Depot for around $48.00 (elongated model) They have the round style also. It is very well made and has stainless steel bolts instead of those cheap plastic ones.
