Andersen Series 100 or Series 400?
Comments (4)We just did the entire window thing... You have valid reasone for sticking with the 100s, however I'd take a look at upgrading to the SmartSun option for your south and west windows (we're in OK, so I have a feeling for your sun). You really might want to get the window specs and go to Lowes (at the contractor desk) and ask about a whole house quote through their corporate Quote Support Program (QSP) for Pella Proline 450s. We got 4 custom 3 x 4.5', six 3 x 4.5', two huge flanked combos, one 3 x 3 kitchen casement, two hinged 6 x 6 patios, two 36" entry doors and one double sidelight entry door, plus storm doors for the three - for right arouond $17K. They are all painted inside, with vividview screening, the optional UV glass and extended jambs. Well worth the small effort....See MoreBuyer Beware: Black Andersen 400 Series Casement Windows
Comments (85)Dealing with a similar sutuation. New build with same windows. I was a little surprised when i noticed the exterior mitre joints, as mine are identical. One thing i know for sure is that “damage” you think is from the factory is 100% from the installer. Mine were installed with way more damage. Aside from the major damage, I did have those scuff/scratch type marks all over several of mine as well, the good news is - they literally wipe off with a decent amount of elbow grease. I was happy when I realized it wasnt permanent....See MoreAndersen 400 series Black but wth with the Grey Jambs?!
Comments (91)I just had Pella double hung outside dark brown and inside almond hung. Immediately, I noticed the white jam on the outside view so now I have a brick house with cream trim around the window, a dark brown window and grid with a white stripe in between the trim and window. Unbelieveable! Nearly 80K retail (discounted through our contractor) and I’m sick about the exterior look. I really don’t know what recourse I have, but NOT HAPPY at all. Dark Brown window should be dark brown all around!...See MoreOpinions on Windsor Pinnacle vs. Andersen (400 and A-Series) PS Loewen
Comments (5)Thanks WoW! I don’t need a wood window. Only requirement is black exterior. Windsor and Andersen were easy options because my Framing company carries them. Loewen (unfortunately out of budget) is from an independent installer/dealer who also carries Andersen, Lincoln, and Provia. What are your top choices in the Windsor/Andersen budget range? I’m open to another brand/material but these are the things that have been holding me up: I have a full light front entry door with sidelights and transom. There are also three sliders (2 three panel, and 1 lg 8x12 four panel). It’s hard to find showrooms that have similar floor models to test out. Would like them to operate well and feel solid. Same with front door. I’d like it to “feel” like a front door and not a “patio” door. Know what I mean? Installation company. Was hoping to have sales and install from one company. From the forum, I see that Marvin Integrity would be a wise choice, but I sent a bid to a dealer/installer and what I got back had so many errors and took so long to receive, I didn’t feel comfortable moving forward. Is it best to blanket all Marvin dealers with a bid request and see who rises to top? Or another brand that you recommend? I’m in Pittsburgh. Thanks....See Morekoshka2
