cynanjon: Here's one. On that website when you search for bathroom hardware, 5 pages come up and each page has a couple of the open-ended ones. I was looking for Umbra specifically to find more of the ones I bought several years ago and LOVE. Not available anymore but I might have to try these open ended ones now. Think I'd mount them vertically just to make sure nothing rolls off the end. The one I have from Umbra has a metal bar the t.p. roll sits on. The bar sits in the side mounts. But it just drops down from the top and sits in. Has never popped up and out. Love not having to squeeze a roller to get it back in. Ouch! Lots of other manufacturers. TOILET PAPER A blonde, a brunette and a redhead were walking along the beach. A seagull flies over and craps all over the blonde. The brunette says in a disgusted voice, "Hang on, the bathroom is just up the hill, I'll go get some toilet paper." After she leaves the blonde begins to laugh. The redhead says, "What's so funny?" The blonde says, "Well, blondes are supposed to be so dumb and look at her. By the time she gets back with that toilet paper that seagull will be miles away!"

I use bar cloths (bought in bulk) to wipe counters -- they're large, thick, and cotton. With an under-mount sink, I just fold it in half lengthwise,and hang it so that it's halfway on the countertop and half way hanging down the side of the sink, friction holds it in place. I always rinse and wring it out when I finish with it and before I put it there, so no puddles have ever formed. With under-mount sinks there's no caulking bead around the rim on the countertop to get nasty and moldy from having a damp cloth hanging over it, so no reason not to hang it there. I don't suppose you could do it if you had a wood countertop, but I'm assuming you're talking wood? I change towels out every morning, but use the same one throughout the day. It dries fairly well hanging there, I'm not sure if it drips into the sink from the hanging end, or if the water just evaporates, either way it has been working fine for a couple years now. Love the idea of a towel pig, but not only have I never found a suitable one, but I don't really need it, and am greedy with my countertop space -- especially near the sink, so no pig for me.

Oh sorry - I went off in a different direction. I'm not a big fan of gift cards in general, especially ones that tie you into one specific restaurant or store. I've had a few bad experiences where the cards went unused - in one instance the restaurant closed unexpectedly and I still have one for the Rittenhouse Spa that DH gave me the Christmas before Covid. I can still use it but just haven't felt inclined to book it. Now that the kids are older we've tried to simplify things. They own their own homes and two have children. They have repeatedly commented that they don't need stuff. I don't have a problem with giving them money and we give them checks on Christmas and their birthdays and it is definitely what they want and can use. A few years ago one of the kids set up Elfster- an online gift exchange that his wife uses with her large, extended family. It resembles a Pollyanna - you're matched up with one other family member, a price limit is set and each participant has to suggest things that they would like to receive and they can even include a link to the actual item. This is the third year and it's worked out well and is helpful in eliminating the 'stuff' factor.
