Hard drive is 1 1/2 years old. Lightning hit, destroyed the serge protector and hard drive. Yes CyberPower did replace the serge protector. Warning to all~~~~ be sure you have all the paperwork,dates, time, just everything. Cyber Power does require it.

Computer was working fine with new CyberPower Protector!

THEN::

I had surgery on May14th and unplugged everything.

I am just now able to be back on the computer.

Now I cannot up load any pics, words or what ever??

I get the IE notice on blue page This program cannot display the web page.

As you can see I can sign in on HomeSite. Now I will see if this will post. It should as it is not an upload. OH ME!!

I ran the Microsoft fix it 2x still no good.

I reinstalled AOL. Yes I am on phone line, in the middle of pine trees.

have you tried clearing all your cache in your browser? Tools Options then clear all temp internet files and cookies, etc.

It is truly unfortunate that you had a lightening event. However, this is indeed an educational experience for all users. There is no absolute protection from lightening except total disconnection, and even then there are several reported cases of resulting static electricity doing hardware damage. So with limited options it is our duty to do everything we can, and keep our fingers crossed. Plus, we as users must develop good backup disciplines.

Now that you know how to do it, be judicious in applying it. When you do it, you're stealing bandwidth. Most commercial sites have plenty of bandwidth and since you're advertising their wares, they're okay with you appropriating the image (which is technically a copyright violation whether you put it in your Photobucket account or not). Photobucket is setup specifically for sharing, so linking something from a public Photobucket account, or your own, is what they're there for. Nowadays, Photobucket also allow you to save an image from the web in one step, rather than having to save it locally and then upload it back to the web. Sometimes people will post an image from a small time page and the owner will trace it back here wondering what all the hits were about. Every time the thread with the image gets opened, the originating website registers a hit. These are people who get very touchy if we're criticising them (including criticising them for appropriating images from one of us!), though sometimes they're happy to have us discussing them and wish we'd actually click over to their sites. I used to make my images clickable so they'd take you to the Amazon page, or whatever, where it could be found, but since Photobucket, among others, insert a link to their home page in your picture code, I stopped bothering because people would think it would just take them there, and I wasn't about to bother with a tooltip.

Raven -- Yes, it's the view from the lanai at our ccndo in South Kihei on Maui. We've owned it for 11 years and are there for a month or more in winter. It's a ground floor unit with parking just outside and all tile flooring. It's not fitted out to be totally handicapped accessible, and there are three shallow steps down from the parking level. From what you've written on the KT about your mobility issues, it could probably work for you. Message me for our VRBO ad number.

Rocky, the counters are normal depth and the isle width from counter to counter is 41". I can definitely see something similar in your house! Kiwi, I saw some photos of you home on the building a house forum. It looks incredible!!! I cannot wait to see more pics. Regarding the faucet. I am having a hard time loving it as the sprayer does not have much pressure. My other faucet in the main kitchen's sprayer is great. I am wondering if it is a problem with the faucet itself?

With this heat wave, the power was blinking several times today, and actually went out for a few minutes while I was working yesterday. Fortunately, the outage was less than 15 min and my trusty APC unit kept the computer-monitor-modem humming right along until the power came back on. If I can possibly avoid it, I'd never be without a UPS. Would it have saved the OP from damage? No way to know for certain...but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

well you can always try a quick and easy system restore to the day before the lightening and it may reset things back to working, if not it can always be reversed.

Since you are on dial-up, be aware that the telephone line is a source of possible damage during a storm, so that should be disconnected also.

Hopefully the system restore to a date before your surgery, since everything seemed fine then, will put all back in order.
