A couple of pieces of info - I believe both of the ranges are actually free-standing ranges but without the backsplash that most free-standing ranges have - typically pro-style ranges are free-standing with controls on the front - what that means is that they're deeper than slide-in ranges (you don't need a countertop strip in the back), they have finished sides, and they don't overlap the counter tops on the side. The Bosch range you're looking at has "true" convection in the oven - a third element around the fan - the GE doesn't - if that matters to you. The GE is made by DCS - the equivalent DCS range does have 5 burners - don't know how they compare price-wise - I suspect the GE is a little bit less expensive. The Capital 30" range also has 5 burners but I believe they only make an all-gas version.

In 2004 we purchased the 30" Kitchen Aid Dual Fuel Convection range and have regretted the high priced purchase ($2800) ever since. Experienced nothing but problems, repairs have been numerous, the door is still lopsided after repair broke two, can't clean the oven without having to call repair afterwards, and now the oven is once again inoperable. The same problems continue to plague the machine, again and again. As of tonight we've decided to dump the stove. Dinner was burned while the temperature was set to 350 and the broiler engaged. Even with the control knobs turned off the broiler continued and the door locked, which resulted in the food or pot knobs/handles catching fire and necessitating disconnection of power. My eyes are still burning from the smoke. After waiting until the oven finally cooled, we turned power on and the safety lock finally disengaged, but even with the controls turned off the broiler once again turned on. This is not the first time this has happened or the first time this issue has been addressed by repair. Tired of calling repair we learned that sooner or later the broiler won't go on, and all will be normal for months at a time. KA suggests turning the breaker off and calling repair as it is a fire hazard. Been there done that, but after numerous repeated repairs KA still refuses to accept that the unit is a lemon or that they're selling faulty equipment. Now we're out of warranty. Figure that during the first year of ownership KA paid more for warrantied repairs than we originally paid for the unit, and due to repairs we were without an oven for approximately one-eighth of the short life of the unit. KA falls short of their image.

I had the Bosch all gas and LOVED it. The oven was great.. I'm sure it would be even better in dual fuel. I loved how the burners were somewhat staggered so I could use most of the burners without having my pots bump into each other. I also really liked the oven racks-- they were very sturdy-- even at Thanksgiving I did not have a problem pulling them in and out. The PowerSim burner is fabulous-- could stirfry, sear meat, and keep sauces warm w/o risk of separation on the burners. Continuous grates were also very nice. Price can't be beat either.

A couple of things to note on threads from prior to 2012. One is that the Cafe threads will be about earlier versions of the Cafe line and some of the earlier ones had a problem with oven use overheating the front mounted control knobs. My recollection from stove shopping last year was that GE did a redesign in 2011 that fixed the problem. The other thing is that Kitchenaid (and corporate parent, Whirlpool) had problems with self-cleaning ovens cooking the electronics and/or tripping an internal over-temp circuit-breaker (which required taking the oven apart to re-set). KA/WP supposedly fixed this problem in 2012 by installing stronger cooling fans for the stove electronics. Something to research when considering the KA. IF you have access to Consumer Reports, you may want to check out the embership survey results. My recollection is that GE ranges have been noticably more reliable than KA ranges in the first five years of ownership
