I would modify xedos description by saying that there are a lot of sources of so-called pro range hoods, but I wouldn't claim that they are a dime a dozen, unless my view of the significance of hood prices in the context of personal income were that of a CEO of a primary dealer bank. The larger versions of pro hoods move enough air that provision for make-up air adds further costs.

Pro hoods normally have baffles, not meshes, adequate capture volumes, and other features that make them a deliberate attempt to combine commercial performance with aesthetics. The third leg of the trade-off triad, affordability, is typically relegated to lower importance.

It's "pro-style" and there are many that look just like it with a huge range of features and prices. I've been looking for a plain hood like that and the number of them available is not making it easy!

thanks for the suggestions. i posted this on the kitchens forum also and the thoughts were similar. i preferred it to other pro line hoods b/c of the angled curve in the front (i just liked the look). it's a little hard to tell in this picture- it's easier to see on the larger photo on houzz. it's definitely not the wolf. anyhoo, i think based on the guesses offered, it appears to be a Best, but one of their outdoor models. does that sound right? do outdoor models get used in interior applications?

I have a feeling outdoor models (I saw some I really liked!) are noisier but I don't actually KNOW that.

The Broan Elite E60 (or one of those in that line) is similar. Guess I didn't notice the curvy bit from your photo but these actually are on my short list....I guess they really do all look the same to me!
