Comments (19)bee- you don't enter a temp it changes to 85 & " proofing " on the display if you hold it long enough after pressing the "on" button. be sure your finger is covering most of the "bake" button when you do it and hold it a while. These light sensitive keypads can be tempermental. Try it a few times, I cannot engage mine every time. Remember you MUST press the "on" button and hear a beep before selecting another program if the oven is already on. This is a royal PIA in my opinion. Comments (3)In our case, there is no error message - the oven comes on, fans run (normally), there is just no heat. The repair guy arrived with a long metal wire with a hook on the end (looked like a souped-up coat hanger) so he was obviously expecting it might be the switch. He has to snake this wire through the vent openings all the way to the back of the oven to reset the switch. What burns me is that because the oven (installed in 2008) is out of the 2-year full warranty (though still in 5-yr parts), I have now had to pay $180 (twice, as this has happened twice) to a serviceman to come and spend 5 minutes resetting a switch which is tripping because of POOR design: it trips because it is sandwiched between the upper and lower ovens and apparently (per serviceman) simply gets too hot because there isn't enough room around it. (He said "run the a/c, open the cabinets around it, pull out the drawer beneath it before you clean the oven ... seriously?? For the price of these ovens??!) So I am now told I have to pay another $150 in labor to have a newer, higher-threshold switch installed. Clearly Wolf knows it has a problem or it wouldn't be willing to send out a switch that tolerates higher heat, so this strikes me as a case of poor design that the customer gets to pay for... and pay for ... and pay for. (BTW, this is our second set of ovens -- Wolf replaced the first set when the enamel began to separate (per other poster), but we STILL had to pay shipping and installation for the new ovens, which given the enamel breaking off was a common problem, I felt was unreasonable. Comments (3)The chipping wasn't a widespread problem with Electrolux - I only know of one person who had it and that was years ago. Haven't heard of it happening recently. I have an Electrolux induction range with the blue porcelain and no chipping. Also, you can buy Kenmore Elite ovens which are rebadged Electrolux but have black porcelain instead of blue. Wolf has been having chipping problems, but their new "M" series ovens will hopefully fix the problem. There are a few people who have the new M series, and while none have had chipping issues that I know of, they have only had the ovens for a very short amount of time (they came out very recently). People have reported chipping in the past even without the self clean cycle being run so that won't save you. If you go Wolf, your best bet is to avoid the L series and E series. I don't know anything about Bluestar's implementation, but continuous cleaning is nothing new. Back when it was commonly offered, though, it was notorious for being very ineffective which is why it is rarely seen on ovens today. I believe that the Bluestar has a high heat cleaning setting too, but not positive. I know of one person on here who has a Bluestar electric wall oven. She seems to like it overall, except the touchscreen control panel has been glitchy. Comments (20)I went to see the Miele CSO and oven last Friday, and I really like the CSO especially it being plumbed the the XL is big enough. The interface is great, perfect for anyone that's new to steam ovens. The regular oven is pretty much just fine. However, I still like the Wolf's look more, Miele is more modern clean look while Wolf has more rounded edges and the warmth feeling to it...I know that's so superficial LOL! One thing I am curious is, the sales guys at either Pacific Sales or Pirch all told me they would recommend Wolf, even though Miele is a superior product. I wonder if they get a lot more commission when they sell Wolf?? Also, the sales guy said if I get Miele, it's best to get the Miele installation because Miele will double the warranty makes it 2 years instead of 1.
