Questions about bathroom fixtures...

My husband and I are not big bath people, but the only bathtub in our house is in the Master Bathroom. We are remodeling our house and are replacing the pink, outdated, whirlpool bathtub we currently have, but have no idea what to replace it with. We don't want to spend a lot of money on this item because it is not that important to us and the only reason we are doing it is for resale value in the future. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good 5'x 30"(32") tub/air bath/whirlpool? We live in Hawaii, so it would be helpful if your suggestions could be found at common places (Home Depot, Lowes, etc).

Also I am looking into ordering my sinks and faucets for sink, bath, & shower online. Has anyone had any experience with a website called "Build.com"? Apparently they have sub-sites called "Lights.com", "Faucets.com" etc... Just can't find the style we like (white, above the counter, semi recessed, rectangle sink) here in Hawaii. We have limited selection here and half the time the retailers just order it from the Mainland themselves. Does anyone know of any other trusted sites I should check out?

I don't know about build.com. I think that people on this board have used them. Why don't you search and see what you can find out?

You can try International Bath and Tile in San Diego. They have a big showroom and their website is plumbtile.com. I used them and got a lot of really good customer service help. There was a particular woman named Terrie that I used. She was extremely knowledgeable. Their prices were great. You get the best of both worlds--good prices, customer service and a place that actually has a showroom.

IBT was really reliable. When I had a problem with a few items, I got return authorizations quickly and replacements arrived right away. Even for a little thing like a TP holder set screw!

I think it's all just a matter of what you like and want to do. I've seen rooms with mixed finishes and it looks just as nice as rooms with only one kind of finish. I chose to mix finishes but decided to stay in the same color family, so in our remodel we have chrome & brushed nickel fixtures with aged nickel hardware.

I don't think you will have to worry to much. You could do 3 or 4 light and would be fine. I had been shopping also for a new light fixture and looking for ideas online I had even seen vanities with a single light light fixture and you would think it would look odd or undersized, but it actually looked fine.

no, it wouldn't I mixed finishes in all my baths..looks pretty natural. I don't even think people notice..they just see bigger picture. Don't mix brushed nickel and polished nickel, or chrome and nickel, these are too close to mix successfuly. ORB is different enough from brushed nickel, and also gives that very neutral feel, it being dark..you should be fine. but you can also cross post your question in Home Decorating forum..there's usually where questions about colors etc. go. Or Bathrooms one..but Home Decorating has more traffic..you 'll get more responces
