nutella - I'm assuming these are the commercial frig/freezers? I like these as well. Just curious why you might be considering them. Styling? Price? Thanks

I can't imagine anyone wanting a glass door refrigerator unless they were an absolute neat freak or ran a commercial kitchen. The inside of my refrigerator would definetly not be a great visual addition to my kitchen.

I love the look of them - so sleek! and modern! - but it'd be embarrassing to have constant visual proof that our household diet consists mainly of bottled beer and condiments. ;)

I think the only way I would consider having one would be if I also had another fridge with a solid door. It would look really cool to have folks over and have the bowls of salads and the incredible dessert sitting there looking at them with some wine chilling belwo, but who wants to see the dozens of bottles of partially used condiments and wrapped leftovers, etc.?

I think the Subzero Pro 48 tried to compromise on that with the drawers below, keeping a commercial feel, but the use of the space isn't good for me -- or the price tag, and I couldn't even be tempted when they put the ice at floor level. I guess if you are going to spend that much opn a fridge, you ought to have no ice in it and have a separate icemaker. Silly me.

Although they look stunning, I wouldn't want to give up the door storage as well as having to keep the insides perfect all the time.

I have the Marvel UC beverage/wine center with a glass door, and I love it!
I wouldn't want my main fridge to have a glass door- it's mostly aluminum foil in there!

But the Marvel under the counter, with a black interior and glass door looks cool...literally!

Hadn't thought about losing the doors storage! Excellent point...and remember, NSandwiches was also asking if the glass could be obscured with window film, so s/he isn't totally insane!

I had a commercial Traulsen with the glass door. I was always losing the condiment containers or they'd get knocked over on the shelves. I had to get a plastic bin for spice/herb/curry paste mixes that were always getting lost. (I keep paprika, crushed pepper, etc. in my refrigerator.) As you might imagine, my bin did not look very impressive through the glass door.

p.s. On the other hand, I did have more shelf space because the shelves extended into the area that door bins would have used.

I like the glass for a beverage center or wine cooler. I think that when we were looking about a year ago there was one beverage center that had a tinted door so that you didn't see everything unnless you turned the light on. I guess it depends on where it is located.

The Sub Zero 601 RG - all refridgerator w/glass door has a separate dimmed light setting. We eat mostly fresh food - the all refridge option is best for us. If I/we want ice cream, a march to the garage or pantry is worthwhile as one contemplates the frozen treat. Also, if we have a frozen meat entree, venison, fish, beef, chicken, I still have to plan to defrost and then, cook it. So, this option should work for me. I agree with comments on the SZ Pro 48" with the ice in the bottom, what were they thinking? - we're having a separate icemaker in another room (dining room w/bar in cabinet accessible during entertainment. A casual, open set up, but, I prefer no one else in my kitchen while cooking, unless invited.

I've ditched the idea of getting a full height glass door fridge and have limited myself to the thermador/bosch 24" freedom models or the marvel undercounter with glass doors. At least the mess won't be staring me in the face.
Unfortunately in Canada we cant get the freedom fridges with the ss doors- Panels only :( I was looking forward to the sparkle.
May just end up going with undercounter refrigeration only which will totally open up my narrow galley.

Can't you get stainless panels if you really want stainless? Might even be less than wood. A sheet metal fabricator is doing part of our counters for $17/sq ft. Seems like if they can do counters, they could do a fridge door panel.

Is there a Gaggenau version with Stainless that would work for you? They might have something.
