I'm doing a very similar color scheme:

Black Antiqued Vanity
Black and White Plaid Tile floor
Carrara marble vanity top
Daltile Navelli White in the tub/shower surround.

I pondered whether to add an accent strip around the perimeter of the tub surround and I thought perhaps I would add the 1" square or a simple black line. However, I've found a few inspiration pictures without the accent, so I'm keeping it simple.

I'm also doing a similar color scheme in my daughter's bathroom. For accent, I am using a gorgeous Calacatta marble mosaic only in the niches (shower shampoo niches, and one recessed into the wall next to the vanity.)

It's the same tile I used for the niches in my master bathroom, which has all white glass on the walls. Since it's on a vertical surface (just the back walls of the niches) cleaning isn't so much a concern. We've had it in the master bathroom for about 9 months and no problems at all. We are using marble pieces for the shelves, so the horizontal places where soap/shampoo might build up are easy to clean. You could also just use the subway tiles for the perimeters.

I think this is a nice way to keep the wall tile simpler but also add a bit of interest and bling without getting too busy.

Here's the niche by my master bath soaking tub, during the renovation:

We used large format white tiles as the field tile in our MB, with two vertical strips of White Thassos mosaic as an accent. I hope to have pics to post soon (tiny bath, tough to photograph--waiting on DH!).

Luckily our floor tile is porcelain (dark charcoal-black) so it's pretty durable, and the wall mosaic isn't so delicate that a little bit of overspray from the Lysol bathroom cleaner (sprayed on the field tile) hasn't bothered it. I am planning to switch to a more stone-friendly cleaner for all surfaces when I finish the cans of Lysol we still have.

I found some beautiful porcelain 1 x 1 to do a 2 row accent -- Empire black swan or something like that. It's a dark charcoal color which will pick up the honed black marble in the basketweave floor tile and my charcoal vanity. Loving it!

Karena I like your floating vanity, may I ask where you got it? Did you have it made? I need something similar, but I can't have it really long.

Have you looked at Ikea's Godmorgon? They have a bunch of variations, one-drawer, two-, four-drawers... they have a nice white laquer finish that looks like that inspiration piv Karena posted. and they are all "not long"... I think from about 38" to 57" in 3 lengths.

Actually, I won't be installing a floating vanity, but, rather an antiqued, traditional 48 inch vanity like this:

I found the carrara marble bathroom with the floating vanity on houzz.com. It's from a bathroom along the 17 mile drive in Monterrey, CA, if I'm not mistaken. I find houzz.com to have lots of inspiration photos, which is really good for getting ideas.

I also looked at the Ikea Godmorgon as Stacey pointed out. I like to mix clean, straight lines with the old, so I guess my small bathroom will have a nod to the past, but be modern and updated at the same time--at least I'm hoping it will turn out nicely ;-).
