After walking around my trees today both the nectarine and peach are oozing clear sap. Must be borers. So I sprayed the last of my triaz. on them (after poking wires into the gooey holes. Then hit them with immunox till I get more triaz. tomorrow. Will this kill the borers for this year?

1. Yes you can in those cases for which a pressure canning processing time has been determined. In some cases there is none, only BWB processing time is available, so in those cases you couldn't pressure can as you would only be guessing at the time needed. But many food instructions, including applesauce, provide pressure canning instructions. Further, some people don't like the results obtained from pressure canning some foods that are normally done in a BWB. The texture, taste, and quality may be affected by pressure canning. In some cases it is improved, in some it isn't. So as a very general guideline, pressure canning is usually reserved for the foods that require it. 2. Yes, if it is deep enough. Many of us do it. You just don't lock down the lid nor put on the weight. It has the drawback of being quite heavy - a PC full of jars and water - but it works fine. 3. Is there a benefit? Not really. Some prefer Presto, some All American. Some swear by each brand. Some of us have both the Presto 23 quart and the All American. Some, myself included, prefer working with the Presto, some prefer the All American. The BIG difference is the price between the 2 models/brands. Just stick with one of those 2 brands only. You'll find lots of discussions here about the pros and cons of both brands and it boils down to a matter of personal preference. More than likely, you could add one G on memory yourself for less than $90, the Vista upgrade from the XP OS that the system came with would be $99. So, to get your HP installed with Vista, you are looking at close to $200, plus the time it takes to install the memory module (quite easy, the module will come with instructions) and the time it takes to install Vista, and the fact that if you are going to do a fresh, clean install, you will need to backup any files and reinstall any programs already on your hard drive. Some folks enjoy doing this kind of work (myself included), others find it to be a giant pain. If it's not your cup of tea, you might wait. I am betting that the manufacturers are going to have some great deals comming up in Feb. March, in anticipation of folks wanting to upgrade to Vista. I don't believe Vista will add very much at all to the price preinstalled from manuacturers, as they are paying much less for their Vista lisencing than you would buying Vista out of a box. Even though I think deals will get hotter, I broke down and bought a laptop, but the smart move probably would have been to wait a month or two, IMHO.

staasia: Are you talking about a blank card that comes with PE Design? If so, the machine can read either card, but the card has to match the version of PE Design you have. Versions 1-3 use the eariler version card, and 4 and later use the later. I had version 2 and upgraded to version 5. The card reader is different for each version, and the card reader for versions 1-3 will NOT read the card for version 4 & 5. The cards are expensive. I had thought about getting an extra one, but if I remember right, it was going to be around $85, so I decided I didn't need it that bad. If you're talking about cards with preprogrammed designs, then all you need to do is make sure the designs are in .pes format. The machine will read them as long as they are the correct size for your machine. For example, the stitch area on the 8500 is 5 X 7. If there is a design on the card that is bigger than that, it will not show up, and you'll most likely get a card reader error on your machine, unless you've split the design. Hope this helps!
