We are getting the plumbing done fore a kitchenette bar in our basement. Our kitchen is central in the house so no need for it it in other areas. I could see keeping a mini fridge in a kids playroom for drinks and snacks. But I like to monitor their eating.

We put a small wet bar in our TV room upstairs but, in truth, we've never used it. We've not yet bothered to get the under-counter fridge or the small microwave that I was planning to have there. And, after two years, I still haven't put in glassware in the cupboards there. At this point, if I were buying a house, I don't think having a wet bar in the TV room would make me more inclined to buy, and I certainly wouldn't pay any extra for it.

Maybe if we had kids, I might keep popcorn and sodas up there but with just me and DH, it's easy enough for one of us to pop downstairs during a commercial break and get snacks/drinks for the both of us.

However, the master will get its kitchenette. I've included one before and roughed in others. The trick is to find a way to avoid it looking like a Motel 6.

I doubt it would increase resale value, but it might be one of those "fun features" that a future buyer notices and remembers.

My husband and I personally always make fun of master bedroom kitchenettes. We aren't coffee people and we can't wrap our head around (1) paying for the plumbing/appliances, and (2) cleaning another kitchen for the rest of your life to sleep in something that resembles a studio apartment.

We have a wet 'beverage bar' in our family room, close to our pool deck. It has a wine/beer refrigerator, an ice maker, a coffee maker and easily houses out of sight all our alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, glasses etc. During family gatherings and parties it helpfully steers everyone away from the working part of my kitchen. It is great for guests helping themselves to sodas or coffee and for cocktail mixing. Little groups tend to congregate there, perching on the bar stools or just leaning against the bar. A bar was never on my wish list but I now understand just how useful they can be.
