Building a Home

moving next week

Well, our house is sold and we move to our rental next week. This is the HARDEST move ever! We are putting 1/2 of our stuff in storage, and it's really hard keeping everything organized so the movers will get the right stuff moved to storage, and the right stuff moved to the rental.

Looking forward to breaking ground in the next month or two!

We did the same thing last September! Colored duct tape was my best friend. I used bright pink for storage unit, bright orange for storage at the rental and bright green for inside the rental. I also had some blue that I used for 'accesible' from storage (e.g. Christmas decorations - I didn't want them buried in a back corner). Good luck - it's worth the hassle in the end!

We did similar as lot23. We used color coded dots and letter abbreviations when marking boxes/bins. It was the hardest move for us. However almost 2 months since the move, we're doing fine.

Take deep breaths and you'll get through it.

No reason not to plant them in the ground. They have to adjust no matter what medium you plant them in. You said that your spot is nice and shady (they will get some morning or dappled sun I hope?) so the only other thing they will need is plenty of water (maybe everyday during this heat) until they get well established.....yg

It's probably too late for you but you'd be amazed at how responsive Verizon can get when you file a brief, factual, articulate complaint with the Public Service Commission. And they have a convenient website where you can file it 24/7. Of course I'm sure the PSC is in bed with a lot of utilities but their website has an eye opening listing of complaints and resolutions.

Problems w/fabric softener dispensing??

Softener dispensing depends on spinning. The only things that can cause improper release of softener with this kind of dispenser are 1) if the machine does not spin during the first spin phase between wash and rinse but it does spin in the final spin period after rinse, or 2) if something is binding the agitator so that it sometimes doesn't get up to full speed with the basket during spin. Or maybe 3) if the four holes around the agitator through which the softener dribbles out are clogged. However, it's odd that softener would be retained and released through two successive loads. Which cycle (Regular, Delicate, Perm Press, etc.) are you using when the problem occurs? Does it happen on all cycles or just a particular one?

carsonheim-we are right there with you. We put 1/2 of our stuff in storage before we listed our house in May (it seems like half but really we did a lot of cleaning out/donating too). We have to be out of our house this coming Tuesday and between de-cluttering and prepping the house for sale and now packing to move I am wore out of it!

We have moved a few things to the rental garage and I have already been there twice to dig through boxes for something we needed now (packed the printer paper and had to print some realtor documentation for closing - oops). I am ready to even just settle in to the rental for a bit before moving yet again to the new build (we have yet to break ground - hopefully October so it'll be at least 8-10 months in the rental). I am sure we will be back in the storage unit when the weather turns as all of our fall/winter clothes are already there as well as Christmas stuff.

I was sure to mark the boxes on the top and then on the side. The key was making sure when the boxes were shelved the wording was facing OUT so you could read it. The simple things, lol!

Lot23 - that is a great idea! Too bad we are 95% boxed up already!
