Central Vac, Surround Sound, or Whirlpool Tub?
Comments (25)I've only been in my house a week, but I gotta say, central vac is the greatest invention of all time. My wife and I have two dogs, and have always used a Dyson...no matter how good the filtration mechanism (and I'm not sure Dyson's are all the great), the machine still needs to exhaust...and the finest dust is recirculated right back into the room...with the central vac, it's WAY more powerful than the Dyson, and it exhausts to the outside...NO smell, VERY quiet, powerful, and no bag or canister to unload every use... As for Surround Sound, I've got it; it's nice (and can be impressive), but I don't feel like I have a better or more functional house because of it... Whirlpool tubs are totally overrated and yucky in my opinion. Some people canÂt live without them (my brother and his wife for example), most have them but never use them. If you love to soak or have a medical condition that warrants one, go for it...but if you do, at least get an air tub that self-purges...I've seen black gunk come out of way too many whirlpool tubs over the years......See MoreDuet Sport Whirlpool 2nd floor *Continued* V3
Comments (108)I'm glad I found this thread! I have wanted a Duet washer and dryer for three years now. We'll be buying a house / condo after the beginning of the year and was basing my desire for the Duet on my father-in-law's set that I've used. Sounds like the Duets were "de-contended" over the years to reduce their "cost" to produce. What a shame. I certainly have noticed FL washers becoming more popular over the last two years or so. After seeing people mention Bosch in this thread, I've decided to jump ship before I even board it. I've been looking through the Bosch and Lowe's web sites, although there are a number of Bosch dealers here in Anchorage. My two requirements in an appliance are A) Energy Rating and B) Noise. Our Kenmore (really Whirlpool) fridge was actually below the U.S. Energy Guide rating a few years ago. It was almost to the bottom of the energy usage on the Canadian guide, even. I don't mind mixing brands. Just as with employers, there's NO reward in brand loyalty. They can change design or build quality practically overnight to satisfy the holly stockholders. Now to go try to dig up some 'dirt' on the Bosch white goods. We use a Bosch dishwasher at work (residential level machine) and it's shockingly quiet. The prices are in line with Duet-class Whirlpool goods and the energy use seems quite low (not to mention attractive styling)....See MoreShould I buy a Whirlpool 9400Duet or the LG Tromm 2688
Comments (17)It is really not my intent to be defensive. I think I do get a little urked when LG is the "ONLY" washer w/service issues. I did extensive research on all the washers I was interested in buying and they "ALL" had their issues! And for folks to say I might add in a condescending way that they "didnt even consider a particular brand" because of service issues is in my opinion disparaging. I have found as much on this site about Whirlpools/Kenmores smelling, Bosch running marathons (vibrating) and all kinds of software errors. GE's and Fridgidaires w/multiple mechanical and workmanship problems. Maytags...I wont even go there, not to mention the LG stuff. On the other hand there have been several testimonies by owners of these brands that would buy it again. I have not seen that much on Miele or Asko; simply because they are not purchased as much as the ones above. Being that LG's sells are so hot I understand they have the "Microsoft" affect on folks and they have become somewhat disingenuous with regard to the brand, but c'mon!! OK...maybe I have become a bit defensive (lol). The best way to sum it up is like this; I am an iPod user, I know folks that are trying to decide between an iPod and the new Zune. Naturally I am very familiar w/my product being that I own it and I have read several reviews on the Zune. Should I go around saying the Zune is inferior to the iPod because it cant do this or that and it only has this amount of space etc, etc. when at the end of the day they both hold huge amounts of music and the person is simply sitting down and listening to music on one player as the other is.... I said all that to say that until LG or any other brand comes out with a machine that sorts clothes, moves them from the hamper upstairs and folds and put them away after the wash....stop touting one washer as being far superior to the other! As far as the Miele heater thing goes most folks will use only one cycle the majority of the time, and it is a farce when the heater does not run on the cycle that is used the most. This site has been extremely helpful and is full of useful info, but the superior attitudes of owners of FL's over TL's and owners of certain brands is getting old....See MoreLow Water Pressure on the Sink Filtration Filter I installed
Comments (5)Assuming you installed the filter correctly, you need 60 PSI to get 0.75 (3/4) gallons per minute, per Culligan Literature. Verify what pressure you have at the faucet/filter. Technical service at Culligan is 1-800-645-5426. The 750R filter appears to address only Clorine or Aesthetic Effects. The 1000R filter addresses many Health Effects. See link. Ask tech service if the filters are interchangable. Hope that helps. Dan Martyn Here is a link that might be useful: Culligan SY-750S Water Filter Manual...See Moreasolo
