I can't recall where I saw a similar problem but it concerned a capacitor in the power supply. In my experience I have also seen where a fusible resistor just needed replacing. I don't know how old your unit is but many of the newer Phillips/Magnovox electronics are made by Funai which is a Communist China product.

The owner's mom posted a message on a forum this morning. I hope it's OK to quote from it; I want to share because it's so sweet (words in brackets are mine to help clarify): "Zak is eating and drinking. She (his owner) said he is more subdued than normal but is doing well. She said she was awakened many times during the night by Zak placing a paw on her ...she would open her eyes and he was just sitting staring at her..he did the same thing to Mic (owner's husband) during the night also. " Apparently, it was more than just luck that got Zak rescued, although there was a lot of that as well. The skiers knew about the reports of the missing poodle and, when they heard barking, they started their search. It took 1 1/2 hours to locate the dog, who was standing next to his make-shift den. Zak willingly followed the skiers and the three of them eventually crossed paths with the owner, who was out on snowshoes looking for her poodle. I wish I could have witnessed the reunion!! Mazer, I heard that the owner had contacted some rescue dog organizations, probably because of your idea, but none had been dispatched because of bad weather. The owner's husband also had someone with a helicopter on standby, for when the weather cleared. Sephia, I'm sure the owners contacted all of the numbers you gave them; it sounded like they got in touch with anyone and everyone who could help. Thanks, again, for helping. It goes to show how important it is to get word out if your pet is missing, especially in such a dangerous location.
