I have also noticed some posts are not coming up in searches anymore. I would recommend not using the search feature here and instead searching using Google as follows: bagging site:http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fruit for e.g. a search for posts with "bagging" in this forum. The "site:" restricts it to this forum only, not the whole Internet. Scott

ilima The most important thing to make sure you turn up on google, after making sure your homepage has the right search words in the opening text, is to get your site address referenced on as many other webpages as possible - directory listings, private webpages etc. Often its a case of contacting the site webmasters and proposing an exchange of links. To get a google spider to visit and catalogue your website click on 'about google' on their homepage then add URL. You only ever need do this once.

I could write a book on dns to explain why they dont all work for you on neighboring computers but I cant spell too well, so anyhow... Anyways.. you might want to look in your Administrative tools(i think) for the 'Computer Management' tool. It's always a good idea to look quickly in the Event Logs... just for fun of seeing the errors ;) .. sometimes you'll see the problem and maybe even be able to follow the link to a fix. While in Computer Management / Under Services, look for DNS and make sure its set automatic and started. If not running and if it wont start, look at the dependencies tab,,, you will want the ip/sec service set to auto also. That should cover that. Then open a cmd window and type ipconfig /help and you can scroll up and see several things one might do. run the flush dns cache option in case cache is corrupted somehow, which some people do have problems with. ipconfig /flushdns ~all those google ip numbers and the google names do work for me, no problem. I dont use typical dns .. theres a program out there called TreeWalk that you might look into. I have found it makes things real snappy quick here for name resolution. It does your own dns cache so it seldom actually asks your isp or even your router for dns. And if a name doesnt resolve it quickly checks another dns server.

Thanks Raven. I don't think this is a windows resizing issue (although that could be a troubling feature worth turning off as well). The last article you linked had this in it - which might be what I"m experiencing: "But I have another problem, how do you turn off the blue grids when it comes to internet explorer/firefox? It snaps into small grids when i move them to the edge!" But that was one of the last posts - and nobody addressed a solution. It's not the window shrinking in half. It's an open tab/web page - shrinking to maybe 1/6 of the page or less - and it might be as though it was being shrunk into a rectangle in a grid. Interesting to read how many annoying features people have discovered in Windows 7 - that are set by default. I'm still on XP - so I won't know this stuff if my daughter runs into trouble. Thanks.
