please help me with some hinge questions
Comments (0)Has anyone bought and used Brainerd brand polished nickel hinges? What is the quality and appearance? I saw these on ebay for a fraction of the cost of other polished nickel hinges. I realize they are probably steel and not brass, how much does that matter for interior closet doors? Thanks!...See MoreHelp me choose some colors here (granite, backsplash, cabinets)
Comments (37)OK, here are the pics after the cabs were stained. We went with a deep mahogany to coordinate with the tiles, granite and backsplash. The results have really exceeded our expectations. My contractor says that the shine of the top coat will tone down over the next few weeks. Note: I have many skills, but photography is not one of them. So please excuse the crappy pics :) The stain is really a dark brown/mahogany -- not black as seen in some of the pics. Here is a picture with the flash on -- shows some of the brown tones...See MoreNeed to choose Interior Doors and Paint - TODAY! Please help!
Comments (2)Just did a condo reno with Saddlebrook Farmhouse. In certain qualities of light it can look peachy. In others, it looks more blonde. I managed the peachy away by changing lighting. With that said, I would not recommend this color unless you like the peachy-brown color. Go with the other one that has less pattern and is more brown. As far as a paint color plan that has the best odds of working together in a range of light sources and appealing to a lot of people, this is my go-to formula. I would never call it "fool-proof" but the odds are good. Ceiling color PPG's Delicate White. Wall color BenM's Revere Pewter or SW's Drift of Mist. Cabinets, doors and trim SW Extra White. If PPG paint is an option, it's good quality and value and they can match other brand's color. PPG's Break Through on cabinets, doors, and trim is a godsend because it dries and cures quickly. PPG's Pure Performance in eggshell is awesome for walls....See MoreWhat are some ways to solve privacy issues with interior french doors?
Comments (14)Thank you all for your great ideas - some I hadn't ever thought of or considered (mirrors)! So all comments have been helpful and educational. Loved your descriptions of how you've solved it and your pictures, that helps me visualize (and trust me, I need help visualizing!) Now I have some ideas to discuss with my husband and can move forward. Yes, ninigret - messy office! Ü Jan, I think your top picture is the perfect solution for us, as I would hate to have to mess with taking the glass out and putting in different glass at this point. Would you tell me a little more about the privacy film that is shown in that picture? Where to get it? What's involved? Etc. (Sorry, I'm clueless!) Thanks again to all! I really appreciate the help!...See Moremillworkman
