what color vanity would you choose... (pics)

Hi all,

In one bathroom, we used Navelli (DalTile) in Marfil Linen. We plan to have white/off white wainscoting and the walls will be BM Windham Cream (I think). What color vanity would you use? I want a clean, crisp look. I am leaning towards whit - but maybe someone has a better suggestion? The vanity/linen closet needs to fit in a 58" space between the wall and chimney - so I am planning to do a 42" vanity with a 15" linen closet.

Beautiful tile. I can just picture that bathroom and I think it will be gorgeous!

I'd go with a white vanity in the same color as the wainscotting.

I really like the contrast and richness of a dark wood vanity with that lighter floor tile. The first photo below is an inspiration photo and my bathroom is the second.

I love the yellow too. Why did you have to reside the house? It looked in good condition before. Just wanted the hardiboard siding?? where in the keys are you? I have a friend who lives in Islamorada and somewhere around there I remember seeing a new build of two story homes that remind me of yours. Love the Keys!

newhomebuilder: Thank you. I will post a closeup when I get home tonight. The 4 panels were all the same length. The only problem I had was that out of the 4 panels JCP sent, 3 were the same color and 1 was much darker. All 4 were marked "amber gold". They replaced it promptly. They were a great deal with a 20% coupon on top of their sale price.

There are several threads now on off white/light paint colors. Here is the list I have so far that might work with our flooring. I have Capitol White on the list to check out. Elmira White and Manchester Tan are the darker of these. On my thread someone said that Feather Down is a lighter version of Manchester Tan. I have to agree about using a dark cabinet to give the bathroom some visual variety. When I see a totally beige bathroom without anything to give it visual interest (either with color, fixtures, accessories, towels, etc) I think of builders specials. your bathroom so far is looking beautiful with the choices you have made so far. now give it the wow factor. the dark cabinets won't take away from the calming feel it appears you're looking for.

If you do want to keep to light, I'm tempted to say go for an off-white, cream or antiqued-white vanity with a white or at least slightly lighter top so that's where the visual focus will be. (At least look at pics before deciding to go for a darker top and lighter vanity, though it may be fine.)

The top below is part of Kohler's Iron Impressions line ... I saw a light top... not sure if it was white or one of their many subtle variations... but it was utterly breathtaking. It is made of cast iron. (If you like the look let me know and I'll go find out what exact shade of vanity top that was.) The tops will fit on most vanities (need to check the sink slope vs. the side drawers though) .. am showing this one because it has a cream color with a whitish top.

Likewise it would be tempting to try to find a vanity top in granite or marble that was very, very, very close to your tile color, without a lot of design in it.

I do think you can have a beautiful bathroom that is similar in tone without it looking 'beiged out' ... I think some keys to that are making sure the choices have some character and visual interest vs. being really run of the mill, and using high-quality materials. Change of texture from matte to glossier gives variation, as does stone vs. china vs. wood, etc. Oh yeah, and well-chosen lighting that gives it all a warm glow and maybe highlights one or two things - an area of tile wall etc.

::SWOON:: at the Kohler sink. Why is it that porcelain over cast iron evokes such a deep response? Dang, that is one gorgeous sink.

I do wish they weren't so darned high priced. But the functionality of drawers plus the gorgeous sink is hard to deny.

To the OP: I think either option posted would be really, really pretty. It all depends on the vibe you want: Vintage calm or Modern serenity?
