I feel your pain. It is just so hard to know what to do with this stuff. And in my bathroom, all the little extras are in that peachy pink color. Toilet paper holder, towel bar holder, toothbrush thingy.... Looks like we have the identical tub: and maybe toilet, too. Ours is American Standard: Different sink - yours looks like there might be storage somewhere under the sink. Instead of exposed plumbing. "You can't get a mud job like that these days" I tried to take closeup pictures of this weird paint job on the walls, but really the second to last picture in this post shows the colors best. Pink, peach, mint, and LAVENDER. I really detest this paint job, although I'm sure it took forever to do. So now I'll prowl through savethepinkbathrooms.com and elsewhere to get ideas about what to do with these walls. I'd love to know what you come up with! bean

I like the door painted white � it makes the natural wood cabinet over the toilet more like artwork. A wide, wall-to-wall shelf above that cabinet could hold neatly folded towels, but that doesn�t sound needed. I have the same toothbrush holder, so I must like it. I�d place it on a glass shelf mounted to the wall on right of medicine cabinet, and hang the hand towel bar on the left side of vanity. Because the toilet is off-center, I�d hang towel bars only on the left side wall. I think that would probably look neater as well. Or you could hang a swivel style towel rack that might accommodate more towels. Do the four of you include younger kids? Since they probably could not reach the high towel bars, a floor towel bar like this, placed at vanity corner, could be useful. I love radiators � especially for drying towels. A variation would be to install a towel bar that curves over the radiator, so towels can be stored there neatly. You would need a towel bar that projects the depth of the radiator, or a custom install. This is not deep, but I like the concept. There are dual-rod shower curtain rods(both straight and curved) that allow you to hang towels on the outside of the shower.

I had a bad experience with GF gel stain on an oak desk. The first coat went on great, but it needed one more. I let the first coat dry for 24 hours before the second. When I applied the second coat, it randomly lifted off areas of the first coat. It was just awful looking. I thought it might have been due to my not letting the first coat dry longer, but you had similar problems after 4 days. In my opinion, there was no salvaging it. I stripped everything off (including original stain on desk) and started over. But not with gel stain. I had a wonderful chat with someone in customer support at General Finishes. He told me he preferred their conventional stains. I used their oil-based stain and then finished with their water-based top coat. The desk turned out great and I use it every day. No more gel stains for me.

There are also a lot of wall sinks to which you can add legs. Kohler still makes a few, and so does Am. Standard. Duravit has a nice small console with backsplash if you are very tight on space, but unlike a 50's shelf sink it lacks anywhere to put stuff down: And if you have a very large budget, sinklegs.com will make legs for pretty much anything, although a local metal shop would be a lot cheaper, most likely. ETA I recommended ebay in my previous post because I have seen NOS chrome adjustable legs for under $20 there.
