Epoxy grout with calacatta marble tile?
Comments (15)Mrs D-- I know I already answered you by email, but for the benefit of those searching the thread-- I'm not familiar with power grout. Not because it's not a good product (TEC has a terrific reputation), but because there are no distributors up here, unless you have a show room. That said, if your installer says he can do the installation without scratching the stone, I'd take him at his word. As for the sealer, personally, I'd prefer to seal it once-- when everything is done. Whichever way your installer wants to do it, I'd go with his recommendation. Some would rather seal twice, others all at one time....See MorePorcelain Calacatta Marble Tile Pattern
Comments (5)My daughter used 12x24 porcelain Carrara tiles on her walls and 24x24 on the floors. She opted for a stacked pattern on both. Her tiler did a great job of matching up the veins in the tiles so that they appear to flow effortlessly across the walls and floor. I have seen quite a few bathroom pictures with marble/marble look tiles were no effort was made to match the veins. IMO they look rather frenzied and haphazard. I may be wrong but it seems to me that it might be easier to make the veins match up with a stacked pattern. You might want to try laying out some of your tiles on a floor. Do both patterns and see which looks best. Here is a slightly out of focus shot of my daughter's tile This post was edited by badgergal on Mon, Nov 10, 14 at 18:54...See MoreHow to Find Calacatta Oro When No One Carries it in Your State?
Comments (7)When we remodeled our master bath, we found the perfect granite at a local fabricator, but all the slabs they had on hand were for a specific job. They called all their distributors and none of them had any, and said it would likely be a couple months before they did. So I went online and googled the name of the granite. I found several distributors/fabricators online, and called them to see if they had it in stock and if they'd be willing to ship out the slabs to our local place for fabrication. Two of them said yes, so I called our local fabricator back, gave them the names and numbers, and they made the transport arrangements. It cost a few hundred $$ more than if we had just bought from in stock, but we got what we wanted. They were going to send photos of the slabs, but had some technical difficulties, so they just told us they'd take them back if we didn't like them. It was a pretty consistent pattern, so the slab they sent was fine....See MoreWhite Calcutta Marble (not Calacatta marble)
Comments (12)Isn't that funny - one person's "stain" is another person's "gorgeous." Calacatta Gold isn't for everyone. canuk and autumn, it's great that you don't like it, most people can't afford it anyway. But for those of us, like carsonheim, who love it, nothing compares to its beauty. One thing's for sure, they are very different stones, both of them lovely, but very different stones. The slab you've shown is whiter than Carrara but similarly priced. You'll get less movement and more linearity from the bargain slab, but you can't go wrong either way....See MoreRelated Professionals
