Epoxy grout with calacatta marble tile?
Comments (15)Mrs D-- I know I already answered you by email, but for the benefit of those searching the thread-- I'm not familiar with power grout. Not because it's not a good product (TEC has a terrific reputation), but because there are no distributors up here, unless you have a show room. That said, if your installer says he can do the installation without scratching the stone, I'd take him at his word. As for the sealer, personally, I'd prefer to seal it once-- when everything is done. Whichever way your installer wants to do it, I'd go with his recommendation. Some would rather seal twice, others all at one time....See Moremarble tile to match Calacatta Regina slab
Comments (4)I have seen some variation in calacatta tile depending on the stores I have gone to, and they all call it calacatta or calacatta gold. You may just want to look around and see if you find something you like that pairs well with your slab. The tile will never be a 100% match to your slab anyway. We are in the process of remodeling our master bath and will be installing calacatta on the counter, floors and as an accent tile in our shower niche...rest of the shower will be white subway. We are also planning on putting calacatta in our hall guest/family bath with the calacatta on the tub/shower surround and on the walls chair rail height. Floors are going to be a wood porcelain tile and the countertop will be a quartz. I think it looks good to break up the marble with another stone/texture....as long as it doesn't get too busy....See MoreMy finished DIY calacatta/glass bath. So many thx to the forum!
Comments (28)Thanks, redroze-- I love the Jado IQ faucet too! We chose the angled sink shape for aesthetics. So far, the good thing about it-- the shape keeps the faucet from splashing as much as it would on a flat surface. But, because it's so deep we had to cut out a fair amount of the inside of the vanity to fit it in (and we lost some storage space in there). Good luck!...See MoreCalacatta oro Marble
Comments (9)Hmm, my recollection is that Calacatta Oro is one of the less expensive ones (with Carrara, generally, being the least). That's one of the reasons I had a bit of a heart attack when I learnt the price of my Calacatta (not Oro, but Extra). I think Statuario is considered to be on the top tier. I think, for everything (marble itself, honing, fabrication and installation) my Calacatta Extra was something like $220 a square foot. But marble is most likely a little higher where I live (in the middle of the continent) than other areas (like on the coasts or near large ports). Someone recently wrote in that she'd purchased 5cm and it was screamingly less than mine. Kinda made me wonder, to tell you the truth .... I have 3cm counters and 2cm (slab) backsplash. And the above figure isn't really true because I had to purchase the entire slab(s) -- I own all the remnants. (and there was a considerable amount of the 3cm left over) Not sure this is too helpful, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE our marble so much and even thought it was hideously over our budget I still delight every single day when I see it. I cannot do it right now but mindimoo wrote about her gorgeous Carrara Calacatta marble (or is it Calacatta Carrara?) and its price -- if you do a search for her hopefully you can find her thread....See Moreblondelle
