agree with ravencajun that there are some really nice handhelds out there that rival or even beat a basic fixed head, plus their utility for cleaning is critical to me. Another option is to place the handheld on a slide bar so you can adjust to different heights. This is especially nice for kids or folks with very different heights. Unless you have a wide tub, I would be inclined to go with a really nice handheld on a bar and the tub spout, otherwise as linelle pointed out it will get busy with so many fixtures. Plus you will need additional diverter valves and trim for extra fixtures and you may decide that money might be better spent on upgrading the shower head (or some other part of your redo) We went all out in ours, but it is a good sized shower only - but you can see what it looks like in the picture below with two fixtures on one wall. My contract with my GC provides that I supply the fixtures and obviously the rough stuff as well since it has to work with the fixtures. However, at some point someone who understands technical plumbing issues should be doing the purchasing or telling you exactly what to purchase. When I was selecting my shower fixtures, my designer obviously helped me with the look of the fixtures but she also explained the difference in shower valve temperature regulations - thermostatic versus pressure balance and then I decided which kind I wanted. The shower fixtures you select would then determine what rough you needed and she was responsible for ordering those. In other words I selected the style and how I wanted the end use experience to be like but she was responsible for making sure that everything necessary was provided to the GC so his plumbers could install what I wanted. So although I was providing the fixtures to the GC, someone with technical expertise was guiding me in the purchase.

Looking at a house with the Master Bath shower recently redone with a rain head shower from the ceiling.I want to add a standard shower head from the wall with a hand held sprayer, both adjustable. It already has a thermostatic valve control. Would prefer minimal holes to drill with the new marble. Would have access to the plumbing through a closet. Any suggestions? All info greatly appreciated!
