Help! I think I have etching on my Tumbled Marble Tile Shower

Hi. We purchased a brand new built home about 6 months ago... The shower floor is chocolate tumble marble stone tile, the walls are a different type tile that is flat. About a month after moving in, we began to see white spots show up as well as areas that look like chalky residue on the floor tiles. I have someone who comes to clean our home so I'm wondering if she is using a product that has etched the marble tiles. Can anyone tell me??? I want to know how to fix this asap before it gets worse. Also, we have a dark chocolate grout (although you cannot tell) but in areas around the shower stall, i am seeing darker grout that appears wet looking even though it's been over a day since anyone used the shower when i took the photos... Is my shower leaking? I need to know asap because if it is, we have the home warranty and want to use it before it runs out. Thanks again for any help! I've searched online for days and cannot find much info on this subject.

Acidic products will etch marble. First go through what you use in the shower. Does your husband shave in the shower? Check his products also.

Buy a cleaner for marble and have it for your cleaning service. Though, I would think they would know how to clean marble. But maybe not.

Watch out for chlorine bleach, while it is basic and not acidic, it will mess with the color of your grout.

Grout will absorb water, it's not water proof, but it should dry out also. Is your darker grout on the floor? Is is possible that whoever built your shower did not built a proper pre-slope? Though, I think different methods are used in different parts of the country, but the shower under the tile should slope towards the drain.

When we thought our door was going to be too small, that is exactly what my GC said he could do, was cut it down. We too bought the Fluence (which by the way I was told is the exact same door that's on "in stock" on the floors at the Big Box stores) and when we discovered the door was actually going to be too small, my GC built out the whole wall so it would fit and not have a funky edge. I wouldn't blame the tile guy unless he's your general contractor for the job. I hate to say this but in construction you can't just assume something will fit. Things vary in size and it would have been wise to have discussed this with him BEFORE laying the tile. When you add the thickness of the backerboard, thinset & tile, it can take as much as 1.5 inches on each side of your opening and this needs to be taken into consideration when you are measuring for the door. I hope that Bill or Mongo step in with a suggestion, and you're able to find a resolution.

Had gorgeous Carrara marble in our last house for several years with our two year old, lived normally with them and didn’t baby them, and they still looked dreamy and gorgeous when we sold the house. If he's been doing this for 5 years then he needs to find a new profession. I have done two tile jobs myself. One over 10 years ago and my recent brick backsplash. My cuts look pristine compared to his hack job when cutting the tile horizontal. It looks like he only used snips! I think because it is just under the counter, once you grout/silicone whatever you intend on doing in that joint, then it won't be as noticeable but considering you have to actually pay the guy, I don't think it is acceptable. Curious about the area that he went past the countertop. Do you have a picture of that?
