Daltile Arctic White Subway Where, when, how much?

I am (trying) to procure materials for our master bath remodel as we are getting close to putting it back together.

I'm having a bit of a hard time finding Daltile Rittenhouse Square Arctic White semi-gloss in the 3 x 6 subway. Our bathroom will have lots of cool tones and the subway tiles the big box stores carry in the stores look a little dingy.

Home Depot is out of stock online and has been for some time. I called their 800 number and they had no idea when they would have it restocked and said they would call me within the week.

Other websites I have searched online don't have it in stock either. I'm getting a bit worried here as I'm looking for a bright white subway at a good price.

Lowes had American Olean Ice White for twice the price Home Depot had Daltile Arctic White. Menards had Mohawk Rittenhouse square at about 40% more expensive than HD.

So, if you have used Arctic white from daltile, from where did you get your tile, how much did you pay for s.f., and how long ago did you order it?

My tub/shower surround is Daltile Arctic White 3x6 with matching quarter-round trim. There's a Daltile wholesale distributor in my town so I assume that's where the tile sub bought my tile. I don't know what it cost because I had a tile allowance in my contract and clearly I didn't exceed it. :) The work was done in July so they must have bought it end of June/first part of July.

Good luck. If you're going for white, this is a nice tile. I lean towards warm, and this tile isn't too cool for me.

ETA: I'm in Santa Rosa, CA (Northern Bay Area).

I ordered Daltile Kohler white Rittenhouse Square subways from a local shop when it was out of stock online at Home Depot. Price was $2.99/sq. ft. For the subways at both, but the trim pieces are more expensive.

Daltile has a link to local sellers on its website.

Since you are using the arctic white, you may save a bit by using 12" trim pieces from their semi-gloss line (sadly not offered in the Kohler white I needed to match my tub). The price for each 12" in semi gloss was about the same as the 6" trim in Rittenhouse.

Also, be aware that there are pieces they make that don't appear in the brochures or website, so ask your local tile shop before you assume there is no plain 1/2" quarter round, etc.

Wow,, am I glad I checked this thread. First-- Metro is annother tile company. I'm pretty sure instead of having lugs on the sides of the tiles like Dal's, it has a raised ridge that runs the whole perimeter of the tile, but does the exact same thing. As for HD, they have the very same Daltile, but they also have U.S. Ceramics, as well. Also not a bad tile. Secondly, as for matte vs brite glaze, there's no difference in maintanence. The only difference, pretty much is your taste. Third, the only problem I forsee with respect to hanging the Durock is that any time I've hung cement board where plaster was, the studs never seem to be in good alignment. But that's not a big deal. They can either be hand planed or shimmed, as needed. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Lastly, DO NNOT take those HD classes. I sat in on one and tore the instructor to bits, to the point that he was ready to have me removed from the store. Those classes are a joke. Believe it or not, I don't know the brand, as I'm getting my tile from a local supplier. However it is white like Dal-Tile's Arctic White. You mentioned the hex pix on this forum - I have seen mostly pure white hex. Biscuit is a fairly yellow color, and it would be easiest to see the difference if you can find a tile showroom somewhere and talk to the sales people. I attached a link for you to an article on white bathrooms, and choosing between different kinds of white. The first picture in the article (white pedestal sink, brushed nickel fixtures, white subway tile, hex floor) is actually the inspiration for one of my bathroom remodels. And this is definitely white, not biscuit. You can see that by looking at (and enlarging) the second photo down, the one with the claw-foot tub. That floor is closer to a biscuit color, and you can see how much yellower it is in contrast with the white walls. You asked about grout - I have seen strong opinions on this forum on white versus gray grout. However I am going with gray (the color is "silverado") based on advice from my tile guy. I don't want to be obsessing over keeping my white grout lines clean, and I like the idea of the gray grout breaking up the starkness of the pure white. I have a biased opinion on white vs biscuit - I am actually tearing out all the biscuit-colored tile in my 2 bathrooms and replacing it with pure white, which I think is a classier neutral. But the cool thing about design is that you get to express your own tastes and personality! I would highly recommend that you go to a few tile showrooms and get a feeling for what look you like (or at least cruise the internet for photos for a while). Rhome410 - Following your link to the other photos was especially helpful because I was also afraid I would lose some of the shine that I think is so pretty with a whiter white subway (if that makes sense), but not so! Weedyacres, the shot of your whole kitchen helped me to see that once I paint my cabinets to match it's going to look great! Thank you both so much! Now I have 1 more question....Rhonme410, It looks like your has a slightly grey grout to enhance the tile but I'm afraid doing that will compete too much with our granite so looking to match the tile as best as I can which is what it looks like you did Weedyacres. Can you tell me what grout color you chose & brand?

I registered just to answer this question.

I bought a small amount of Daltile Rittenhouse arctic white subways this May because I wanted a really clean white. The bullnose pieces were still available online at Home Depot at the time. For the wall tile, soap dish, and cove base I went to Daltile's website, clicked on Our Locations and Retail Dealers and found a local shop that carries it (I live in IL).

I paid 3.57/sq ft at the local shop for the subways and the tile was ready for me to pick up in a couple of weeks (a few pieces of cove base took a little longer).

Soap dish was 8.86, cove base was 2.93 each, and corner cove base was 4.63 each. And no shipping charges of course.

Note: While the website listed just corner cove as a trim piece (no mention of right and left), when I ordered locally the guy informed me there are both left and right corner cove trim pieces (I needed one of each).

Sigh of relief. I was able to go to home depot and they can order it and have it delivered very quickly even though it is out of stock online. The best part - its for the $2.82 / sf price!

Now on to finding all the cove base pieces I need!
